Ivan Maric

Cant run, cant jump and not the maric we all saw in 2013 and also when he got back last year...
He was killed by stefan martin....
Unbelievable to say but it felt safer for the team when Griffiths went in the ruck....
Yes only RD 3 but definitely worrying signs for Ivannnn form wise....

He's such a fighter maric
Was killed early on but ended up with only a couple less hitouts. Probably came out even with Stefan in the second half. Can't see how he will get through the season.
Martin is a great player below the knees though, plays like an extra ruck rover.

11 disposal and 29 HO with 10 to advantage (30%). Stevan Martin had 34/6 (15%)

Marics numbers went up when the kid came on. He has never won many hitouts hence our decision to recruit hampson.

Gee that looks like a win for big Ivan, on TV looked like he lost the battle last night.... Definitely looking slower than previous years

I thought Maric's contests with Martin set a tone.

He enthusiastically made them contests anyway he could and won his fair share that way.

Great game whatever the circumstances and whatever the stats.

It did look like that early, but I think Ivan got on top after the 1st quarter. His hunger for the game hasn't diminished. He was on the bench for a spell, and spent the entire time itching to get back on and into the contest.

My thinking too mate and, unfortunately, pretty much the same from games one and two.

He fought his way back from what looked like a towelling early. Got crucified by the umps - what was that free against him for jumping at the ball at a centre bounce? ???

A few years ago I compared him to Boxer, the noble workhorse from Animal Farm. We all know what happened to him.

He did lose the battle TT....Martin had double the disposals basically playing like a mid....hit outs aren't the be all and end all cause if it was Hampson would b first ruck....
Mobility and agility around the ground is paramount these days....

Big fell with a massive heart is going to get expose on more nimble ruckmen every week. Arrived at Tigerland with half a yard of pace more that he has now, some nice hit outs the other night but some alarms should be sounding as to our readiness to cover the big fella. Hampson or bust at this stage with Ty and Griff no more than rack relief at this stage.

Maybe that's what we need to make Vickery, a 200cm ruchman, who has an "ok" tank, excellent control beneath his knees who occasionally pushes up and rests in the pocket. A ruck man who plays occasionally forward. Stick a bloody GPS device on him in the VFL and demand he do the km's a mobile ruckman does. 10-12km?? is that what he would need to cover per game??

I dont think 4 marks, 10 disposals, 6 hit outs is getting the most out of a top 10, 200cm player who shows enough to tease but not deliver anywhere near enough. Does not have to be a super star but this long into his AFL career his is close to (and I know some of you have) stamping this draft pick as a FAIL.

EVERYONE wearing a Richmond jumper got crucified by the umps on Saturday night.

Seeing iVan become an old warrior gives the Leuenberger rumour more weight. iVan will never give and and will eventually win some, but he's being shown up but the younger, more athletic ruckmen.

If only we could merge the hampster's atheletic abilities and youngish body with iVan's heart, nouse and determination

Geez we're being a bit harsh on the warlord, I mean warhorse. Was very competitive first two games and held his own in the second half last week. He's 3rd in clearances for the Tigers and 5th in contested possessions and he holds the ball in a lot at bounces and tap ons to advantage. People are making it sound like he's on his last legs. He's still one of the most competitive ruckmen in the league. Just needs more help which hopefully guys like Griffiths can do.

I don't think we're harsh. It's more we're *smile* scared that without iVan we'll struggle in many ways, not just in the ruck. Anything we can do to preserve his career should be considered now.
