Ivan Maric

Waay too many eggs in the Maric basket.
As someone pointed out a while back Fremantle have 3 AFL grade ruckmen on their list.
2 have gone down with serious injuries and their 3rd stringer is Zac Clarke and now he's playing really well too.
11 on their list 195 cm +

Clearly shows how bad our development of 195cm+ talls are. We still have to rely on Orro for back-up ruck.

Griffo, Elton and even Tyro are nowhere near reliable ruckmen. McBean is too early for now. Derickx is the player we forgot to delist.

Yeah let's use our brilliant strategy and go for Jamar.........

Zac Clarke was one I thought we should have targeted but many here thought he was no good. But agree we don't have any where enough rucks on the last. 2 genuine ruck men then Derrickx ( :cutelaugh) Vickery (more of a forward) then.........

Wonder if his pre season groin niggle is still, hampering him.

Which from memory was something that effected him last year, he just isn't getting off the ground.

Definitely not playing to the standard of last year, dropping marks that last year he was clunking and the way he was so solid last year he seems to be struggling or down on confidence.

Lets hope we haven't run him into the ground.

Consider selectors have got it wrong going in with Vickery as Ivan's back up & prefer the Or Rifice. Against Dons was up against Ryder & Bellchambers both dyed in the wool ruckmen. This week Cox & Nic Nat, perish the thought. Vickery slot him in at centre half back & get him out of Jack's hair.

Yeah it's an interesting one TOO. You often see those clubs with more than 2 AFL standard ruckmen getting much attention from other clubs with little ruck talent. Make easy targets during trade week or more so when falling out of contract due to their desire to get a regular game. Think Shane Mumford and Drew Petrie. Zac Clarke has been a perrenial target from other clubs for a few seasons. Rumour has it he was one of our targets the year we ended up with Maric. But yeah you're right about ruck depth, North Melbourne come to mind as a club developing good ruck depth. They'll have an awesome ruck trio in say two season's time and they're the sort of club we're competing with to bust out of the middle rungs.

You really can't go wrong with grooming a stable of ruck men. Good cover or good currency. Win/win.
Meanwhile we have the Xman.

Should we have taken Grundy? ;D

Lay a small wager the min we our out of finals contention he will go under the knife. Cant leap, cant run... looks a shadow if himself.

You weren't the only one thinking that. May have got him at a decent price as well.
Maybe next time.

On the AFL app reading the article bout Dimma saying Maric is the freshest he's been heading into Mondays game against the eagles well unless he's had some magic potion to make him run and jump since dreamtime game I can't forsee anything different than wat he has been serving up, luv to b proved wrong but this groin complaint from late last year ive been told is still hindering his free movement....

We have to concede the ruck work both nicnat and cox to tall with better leap so we need to go one on one as to not give a clear advantage at the ball ups and throw ins to the eagles mids

The way Ivan is going, NicNat's going to stand on his head at the centre bounce.

Heaven help us.

Agree :help so saying he's as fresh as he's been tells me that he should cover ground and hurt the eagles rucks that way but maric looks so sluggish ATM don't no then how he will cover ground with some type of speed/spread/endurance....doesn't seem to not even have a gallop...

In my very humble opinion, I have this nagging sense that we may have actually already seen the best of the big man. Looking through the ruckmen that dominate modern football, I am not sure Maric will be able to hold his own against these more agile and skillful talls. I would love to see Dimma give the Big O a spell of three consecutive games in the middle. I do like his attitude and commitment.

Saying that he's now fresh kind of indicates that there was a problem and he was trying to play through it. What happened to not playing injured players? O's not a great replacement, but at least Maric wouldn't have stood the risk of doing more permanent damage if they'd played Stephenson more than they have.
