Ivan Maric

Maric Madness

I can't believe Richmond are serious about trying to get Ivvy up for this weeks Port game.
The guy has sustained a decent ankle sprain.
Ruckman generally need their ankles for jumping.
Playing him this weekend is such a dumb idea and risks him being injured for a lot longer.
Particularly when the big O is in good form in the ressies and ready to go.
Maric's form has been below that of last year, and it may well be his groin / fitness has suffered as a result of being overplayed at the end of last year.
I will be very disappointed if Dimma selects him, as I will interpret it as yet another example of poor and overly conservative selections by the match committee.
Whilst I'm at it, would also rest the clearly concussed Vickery.
I don't care if he passes all the theoretical concussion tests in the world.
Those tests passed Hawthorn's Jordon Lewis after he was pole axed against Footscray some years ago and the bloke admitted later he should not have played for a month.
Bring Griff in, despite his average form, and let him gambol around AAMI kicking long bombs from the centre.

Got to agree with all of this. If the Big O does okay against Port I wouldn't be in any hurry to rush Maric back in, either.

Re: Maric Madness

Agree.
And add the question why Maric wasn't benched mid last quarter when the game was gone?

Agree with all of this bar the last line.

There are about 7 blokes putting their hand up at Coburg to be given a game. Griff aint one of them.

This groupthink about this goal kicking high marking Ben Griffiths who doesn't exist is baffling.

The truth is he is and always has been a low possession, low scoring, low intensity player as borne out by all stats going back to junior days.

He may improve, in fact must improve before he gets gifted games again.

way way too soft to be playing ones at this stage. really needs to harden up quite a lot and get a heap more urgency and intensity in his game. way off the pace atm imo

Re: Maric Madness

To protect our gun forward McGuane from having to ruck.

making 47 changes doesn't help anything, we aren't going that bad. we almost (should've) got up against freo and the week after playing in perth is always tough and we happen to play geelong who have been beating everyone for the past 6 years. I agree with dropping grigg, am sick to death of his soft efforts but he is there for his outside run so I cant really see a replacement for that role in the magoos, maybe white? Batchelor for petard seems fair and not opposed for resting maric over the next 2 games and having him ready to go for dreamtime. As for Griffiths gifting him games is exactly what he doesn't need, if vickery passes concussion tests he plays and Griffiths has to show more before he gets another chance

if vickery is concussed then no way on earth should he play...i fear griffiths could be the next jay *smile*..mismanaged and will go elsweher to be a very valuable assett....i guess aaron edwards tho will come in rather than edwards..griff aint a bckman,at least try him at coburg as a chf

grigg..ive had enough
jackson..does things, but i firmly beleive we will never go anywhere until we have players who are great kicks..golden rule..if ya cant kick ya gotta go
newman?/ id prefer dea..killing it at coburg..deserves a game

Re: Maric Madness

Vickery was heavily concussed. Was very groggy when he eventually got up off the ground. I can't see him playing against Port especially being in Adelaide.

Re: Maric Madness

You can clearly see he is struggling. He injured his ankle and to risk playing him against Port in such an important game would be stupidity. Even if Ivan declares himself ready to go , which he will, we will be a man short. Time for him to rest a few weeks and come in against Essendon.

Bring in Oren. Plain and simple. In form and killing them at Coburg. Deserves his chance. Bring in Griff to bloody help and hope that he gets some urgency in his game. Huge game for us. An 8 pt game.

Vickery the same. Edwards in to take his position. Griff and Oren sharing rucking duties . 80/20

Re: Maric Madness

Griff can't come in on his VFL performances. He needs to show that urgency in the VFL. I'm really concerned about his VFL form to be honest. Still young but he needs to be stepping up to the plate a bit more.

We need him to play his best game of the season Sat night. Just hope his ankle allows it. I also want to see him taking a few contested marks he has gone backwards in this area.

Bellchambers has been kicking goals and Ryder loves playing against us.
Huge game for the Mullett man..

And Vickery

I thought our win in this game two years ago was TVs best game for the club, and nothing since has changed my opinion.

Vickery really stretched the Bombers that night, and he needs to do it again for us to win this one.

There back line is weak. Besides Carsile, the old fart & Goddard refuse to man up
Ryder, destroyed us last time
Carmeri, Rance needs a big big game
Fat ass Watson, Jackson to go to him
Zakarakatkatahkas, Grigg must stop him getting free

Lets see what super coach comes with.
Longergan should come in this week and add an extra midfielder
