Ivan Maric

I would rest him. Gus has been in good form for the Burgers all year and if he can't dominate a game at AFL level vs the Giants then we can formally book the Gus Bus into the wrecker yard come seasons end.

Apart from the fact that he'll get a well deserved break after GWS, he's in top form and has shown little sign of fatigue.

Watch the second-half of the Dockers game, plenty of signs there.

Would like to know how much game time he has played compared to other ruckman.

A real opportunity to freshen him up right now IMO.

The added bonus is Graham gets another shot, has been playing well at coburg all year and would be good to see if he can translate that form to AFL level.

End of first quarter against freo, pavlich has taken a mark on the siren and is lining up for goal, mullet runs from our halfback line past players already milling for the hudle to get on the goal line before the kick. Give him the jack dyer now, i've seen enough.

Maric is a competitive beast, I doubt he would take too kindly to being rested (especially given there's an enforced rest next week). I can't recall too many players needing a two week break, even when there's a compulsory rotation policy.

As for his fatigue against Fremantle, I would suggest the conditions made play more cumbersome and a bit of a slogfest. Along with Cotchin, Maric was one of our best on the day.

I really hope he gets the better in the ruck today. Not only will it help towards a win it will rub salt into the Crows wounds.

BOG again for mine. Love the way he keeps on giving.

I thought he played well but ended up even with Jacobs in the end. A great contest between 2 of the best 3 rucks in the league (along with Cox.)

Played against this year's All Australian ruckman, Jacobs, Maric has an immense battle. I reckon Ivan just beat him but it was a fantastic contest. Best rucking battle I've seen in a Richmond game I reckon.

Don't think Jacobs has been better than Maric at all but he may get the nod because Adelaide will be a finals/top 4 team while we won't. Same thing that's happened to Lids over the journey.

I'm assuming that the ALl-Australian selection will be like it is every year, massively biased towards players in who are in top 4 teams.

Jacobs got BOG in one of the papers

Which tells you more about what passes for analysis in media than the actually game. Jacobs rucked well, he's very clever with his taps. But he had less hitouts and less disposals that Maric. If you watch the game closely a lot of the Crows good clearances was their onballers reading our taps better, which is on our mids, not Maric

This bloke has really earnt his buck. He urgently needs a back-up and has been carrying the ruck mostly on his own. Starting to look like the season is slowly catching up but still extracts the energy to play good footy. I can sniff AA selection for the Cro.

Yep, Hitouts to advantage is a useless stat. It relies more on the guy at the other end actually getting the ball.

Interestingly Dimma was pretty adamant that crucially Jacobs beat him at the clearances but Eevan was slightly better around the ground.
Didn't disgrace himself & contested hard as usual but Adelaide showed that they were right to get Jacobs. Very good ruck man.

Dimma was very angry in that press conference and in fairness has said in the past though that he usually can't tell who won the ruck contest straight after the game and has to watch the tape.

Watching the tape, counting all facets of the game, I reckon Maric won on points. But I'm not a professional AFL coach so it's not worth much.
