First poor game Ivan has played for Richmond. He needs the break.

Yeah no Sandilands didn't give us the advantage I thought we may have. No Vickery didn't help Ivan though.

Not his best day. Cost us a clear goal too.

Average today, Baloo. Turns out he's not an immortal. ;D But he did set one up a minute after that blunder, kicking through to Titch.

Ran off Dawson to create it. We haven't had a ruckman who could do that to a KPD in a while.

And this was a comparatively poor game, L2. Sheesh. :hearton

been harping on about this for a couple of days with mates, but i don't like the mullet up forward. if we have him up forward then he's not down back filling in the hole to repell the opposition

Yeah, the Mullet can't rest.

At this stage Ian, it is his five minute spell to let him rest. He needs it. Covers a lot of ground.

is playing forward really a resting position these days?

he played 99% game time on Saturday, to me that equates to about 1 min on the bench.
i guess he and the coaches dont think he needs a rest.

He does pretty well up forward for a crash and bash ruckman but I agree when he is filling the hole in defence we look a much better team.

Good point but for Ivan it is a break from the work he does. I think at times, when he rests deep, we have looked quite good.

I would rather spell him at Full Forward then push him to the pine. Makes him much more dangerous.

Agree. He's that pretty rare commodity - a ruckman who can take a contested mark. Opposition coaches cannot afford to go small on him and try and work him the other way.

I wouldn't mind if we rested him for GWS, get him primed for the rest of the season.

Why is it nonsense?

Apart from the fact that he'll get a well deserved break after GWS, he's in top form and has shown little sign of fatigue.

Little sign of fatigue? I'd argue that.

At the Essendon game in the 2nd half he was running on the spot. Poor fella. Since then I reckon it's continued in 2nd halfs. He's a warrior that will still soldier on, go up for marks and push to space but the fatigue signs are there.

What signs are you noticing?

When pushing to space off the ball he's struggling, normally he would be close to sprinting. A few times he has struggle to get to certain contests given his massive workload. Also hasn't been taking as many contested marks recently because he can't repeatedly get off the ground as much or as high. I still wouldn't rest him this week given the bye next week but I see some signs of fatigue. Only natural given what he's been asked to do so far.

I agree he has been asked to do a lot, and you would expect him to start showing signs of it. I wtched the Freo game a few times, and couldn't work out if Maric was of his game due to the conditions, or whther he was getting tired with the week in week out efforts.
