Ivan Maric

Loved the work of BC but did hsi arrival have as geat an impact? Did he bring others into the play? BC was aa terrific player but did he impact upon results?

Stewart definitely....a brownlow speaks wonders but int he scheme of things.....andn pure impact has the arrival of Maric been more significant than any otehr player. Stewart came into a team of champion players with an expectancy of success, KJ well not sureif he had a massive impact as Maric has. I think the arrival of Maric has significantly hastened the overall arrival of our mids and the rebirth of Tuck.

Agree maric seems to have had the most impact straight off.

As much as I love the Mullet, I do wonder whether this new firing Midfield is a dirfect result of his arrival or whether our kids, a year older, with Foley back to his best and Lids moving to another level, were going to step up regardless. Maric obviously is a big boost but I'm not sure he's the only reason we've seen our midfield come of age.

when was the last time you remember browne or graham dropping back and taking a mark in the hole? how about a contested one in the wet?

he's improved our team 20%

Maric and an improving midfield.

Chemistry. It's a beautiful thing.

Apart from Nathan Brown has there been anotehr recruit from within AFL rnaks to ahve such a dramatic input to the fortunes of our club?

McMahon.

loved the effort he put in to sprint hard and apply a heavy shepherd on roughead for newman who ran into 50 and hit the post. massive effort.

Not sure how you can doubt maric's impact, in regards to the emergence of our midfield.

Of course our midfielders are one year older, but how many years have they had to rove to the opposition ruckmen. his tapping to advantage and to our mids, is something that can't be undervalued.

And then his work around the ground is a huge huge bonus.

I. Maric is a huge reason our midfield is firing.

Agree, Newman has to finish that. Team lifters. Also saw Ellis lay a hard shephard to free up Morris as well. Both were full blown contact, not a token "I have to do this but I don't want too" effort. Two in one game, struggled to see two in ten years. The Dimma rules are crystal clear.

Thought Dimma's comments on the radio yesterday were interesting. Said they liked Maric and were watching him closely from the day Adelaide picked up Jacobs as they knew Adelaide would play Jacobs in front of Maric to justify recruiting him.

Not doubting, just thinking out loud. It came from watching the Hawks match again and thinking how we'd cope if iVan went down with an injury.

I don't reckon Nathan had near the impact Ivan has had, Then again the former arrived when we were crap and the latter when we were on the up. If I had to choose between the two to have on our list now now Ivan would win by a mile.

Funny think is IMHO they are the 2 best ruckmen this year.

nathan brown was a great player for us before his injury. people forget how good he was.

Yep I think we would have played finals with him even though Wallace was coaching.

Absolutely, we were 7 - 4 after that Melb game then the wheels fell off. Batman and Robin both had goals in the 30's when he went down.

Not questioning whether he was good for us or not. We can only speculate as to what might or might not have happened if he wasn't injured. Fact is Nathan was with us for a few seasons and we had little success. I can also only speculate as to what Ivan will bring us in the future but to me he fills a more important need better than Nathan would with our list as it is at this stage. You're more than welcome to disagree.
