Ivan Maric

Loved his traditional ruck role of floating a kick behind in defence. Was good to see.

There were plenty of people complaining about this trade at the time, and were quite vocal about it.......Ivan proving them to be very wrong one week at a time

Really? I reckon most posters supported it.

Has surpassed my expectations. So strange to see an RFC ruck do the job so well.

As the ball comes in, I'm so used to thinking, "please get the ball to the ground at least" when our ruck goes into the back line. Maric is marking, time and time again - can't get my head around it yet.

Great game again. :clap

Yes!

And his regular overhead 'one-grab' mark taking is sensational, especially to those who watched him as a junior in 2004.

It shows you, again and again, talls do take that extra time.

Plenty of doubters at the time. Lot of complaining about the fact we traded our second pick for him (35ish?).

Agree, I think you'll struggle to find anyone who felt Maric wasn't a decent upgrade on Graham.

There was a strong argument to have him nominate for the PSD but there was never any question about him crossing over in the first place. After securing an additional 2nd round pick, I think you'll find most were pleased with the way we handled the trading period.

Gotta love the big fella. He has that crazy mad arsed stare that would scare the bejesaz out of that freaky guy from wolf creek !!(Mick Taylor i think his name was)

All things considered, cost/ benefit, needs, he's looking like one of the best trades I've ever seen.

Love the big Croat. Glad I traded him into my supercoach team this week. Scored me 129 points.

True but you have to remember that that trade happened after the Maric one. We did not expect that, nor did the club.

I was on the record as saying we needed to keep our second rounder and for good reason. Perhaps in hindsight it was a good thing not to roll the dice with the PSD as Port seemed to break the unwritten rule of allowing players to join their club of choice.

I said at the time that I had not seen a lot of him, though I liked for I saw. To be honest I think even his biggest supporters would be rapt with his output.

I've had a few beers, and might be going the early crow, but i reckon Ivan's our best ruckman since the General.
It's been a long time since we've had a ruckman win 46 hit outs.
I'm loving his work.

Today's performance vindicated his recruitment. Good to see the club having success with targeted players (Houli, Grigg). Hope McCarthy rues not telling Port to go away.

I doubt anyone in the football world would have predicted the major impact he's made, based on his form this year, you'd have to even ask whether the Crows made the wrong call in their choice of first ruck.

God bless the Crows, they have served us very well at the trade table.
