Ivan Maric

I'm with you there. No matter what the big fellas past it, if we want Ivy in a coaching role, let him go learn somewhere else for a year an then get him back.
He has been at Adelaide, so unlike say a Newman or Campbell, has had significant exposure at a Tier 1 club. I'd be inclined to want to keep him at the club if he is indeed destined for coaching.

Whether he is retained in some form of back-up rucking capacity, it may be determined by whether we bring in another ruck during trade period. If not, then we are very exposed with only 1 proven and mature lead ruck (if you could call Hammer that), who is injury prone. Soldo looks very promising but not at least until 2018. Although I hope he gets some games next year.

RFC should be keeping Ivan Maric in some mutually agreeable arrangement, whatever that is, e.g. on the list as 2nd ruckman while Soldo develops or when we acquire another good, young prospect from another club, high in the draft, whatever. Who could be a better ruck mentor? Iconic Richmond figure now.
His experience, character and club leadership is simply too valuable to cut the tie. No guarantee he ever comes back otherwise.

If it's true that Lade is going, surely there is a place available/reserved for Eevan?

I'd rather continue giving Griffiths the opportunities in the ruck.

I reckon Jayden Short would have more presence.

Ivan's given great value service. But. yeah, let him take a spot on another list.

Surely the Big Fella's senior AFL career is pretty much coming to an end.
If he's interested in playing VFL footy and being a mentor to the younger blokes on the RFC list then I am all for giving him a VFL contract for 2017.

I get the feeling we overworked him early on and cooked him

Agree. He was played injured a few times.
No doubt that shorten his career.

Are RFC retaining Ivan as backup next year or moving him on, if the latter then yesterday would've been perfect for fans to say thanks.

Should get a spot on the rookie list for next year. Handy backup and will help develop young blokes.

Quality person.

Let him play against Sydney, we might not win but some Sydney flogs might come out with broken jaws, snapped ACL's and dislocated collarbones.
Let him have one.

True. I think he is gone.

Maric can play but can't run, Hampson can run but can't play. Let's give them both two year contracts. ???

it was written somewhere that he has some offers for one year contracts to play as a back up ruck and part time coach, including one from Richmond.
