Ivan Maric

Putrid. Won the hit-outs, slaughtered in clearances. We looked better when Griff was in the ruck. Should not have played and should never play again.

Wow what an ugly sight seeing a warrior become so weak. Just lost his ability to contest, get to contests, mark.

We can't see him again outside of a farewell game

sad but true

I've been Ivan's biggest fan, it's sad to see him play like he did last night. It's time to for him to give it away, he has been a great warrior.

Thank-you Ivan for everything you bought to the club.
Will be sad to lose leadership like that around the place.
He strikes me as a guy that will say to the club "I'm done".

Really felt for Ivan last night you can see his body is not up to the rigors of AFL football it's a shame to see him go out like this because he's been a pillar of strength for the past 4/5 season's.

Sad to watch him get carved up then drop every mark he would normally grab. Like an old boxer it takes a severe beating to realise they are done. I suspect he will stick around and do whatever is required as he is a team man first and foremost but will 100% retire this year.

Thanks for everything Ivvy

A few years ago it seemed like we had more talls than we knew what to do with.

Now apart from Rance and Jack we have zilch.

How did it get to this?

I'll have to dredge up the quote where someone from RFC said Hampy and Ivan were good enough to cover our ruck stocks for 2016. Was it Blair or Dimma or Frank? Negligent.

"Pillar of strength" last year. Sentimental delusion! This is the sort of thinking that got us where we are right now.

Yep negligent is the right word.

Crazy. Everyone could see our ruck stocks were woeful. Geelong who had better rucks and more depth were still on the lookout for more rucks and went hard for smith.

In 2015 Geelong had Simpson, McIntosh, Blicavs, Stanley, Clarke to cover their rucks (and Padraigh Lucy as a rookie)

They lost McIntosh and Simpson but got Smith.

We had Ivan, Hampy, Ty and Griff (and Ivan Soldo as a rookie) ......and kept them........

But it's not just the numbers and names it's the quality. Ivan we all love but we knew he was shot. Hampy isn't AFL quality and Ty.......is Ty and Griff isn't a ruckman.

Worry is Smith, Leuenberger an Kreuzer were all very gettable, yes they may have broke down, but we had the space in the cap to ad an adequate ruck

Ivvy was slaughtered today. I thought we may wait until the end of the season. But felt very strongly that he should retire immediately.

Well played, Big i-Vahn. I remember when you were the Lion of the Tigers.
