Ivan Maric

I'm just fed up with seeing him give everything and then seeing him bagged here. If he can't win the game off his own boot he's clearly crap and not worth having.

Its fair enough and no-one doubts Maric's desire, but his output is dropping just when we need our ruckmans output to be improving. Thats not his fault either and I don't think anyone thinks it is, just that we need to be looking at contingency plans and if we really want to be moving forward next year then maybe Maric needs to be 2nd ruck, whether he starts all games I'm not sure, but IMO Kreuzer fits well with what we are after. I'm not sold on Leuenberger, just as injury prone as Kreuzer and I'm not sure he's as good. Different type of ruckmen for sure.

Heart like a woolly mammoth but he plays a specialist role and his specialist skills aren't cutting it.

Unfortunately he can't play anywhere else, like say Newmo.

Maric has been fantastic but injuries have caught up with him and he can longer match it with the premier ruckmen of the AFL.

I don't believe that Kreuzer fits our needs as I see him as more of a glorified ruck rover. We need somebody who can at least half the contest with the likes of Goldstien and give our mids a even money chance. I really like Scott Lycett from West Coast. Nic Nat and Callum Sinclair are ahead of him so he hasn’t been given a real go at it at any stage and may be looking for more opportunities elsewhere. He is 23 years old, 203 cm and 100 kg, is very solid as a ruckman and can go forward and kick a goal. He reminds me a lot of Ivan Maric when he was at Adelaide.

Maybe some sort of trade could be struck involving Conca

My sense is if Shaun wasn't to be played yesterday when the match up demanded it, then he should be Capuanoed from the remainder of his contract and another ruckman brought in with Ivan as the backup.

Good call, time for the club to make some hard decisions and release the list cloggers.

As for Ivan, if we go into 2016 with him as the number ruckman we are stuffed.

Love Ivan, but if we come out of this trade/free agency period without a new ruckman we will be in massive strife.

Either Vickery or Griffiths becomes the number one ruckman, or we go and get one.

Ivan and Cotchin could have most used the rest , round 23

Hindsight's a grand thing but I agree with you. I'm not happy about Griffiths and Conca in at the expense of Lennon and Lloyd, which backfired badly (although that is only one of many disappointments in yesterday's game), it sent a poor message in my opinion to 2 players who had earnt the right to play in finals because of their contribution during the H & A season. It b&ggered up the structure and their mojo.

Great servant, but time to upgrade. Can longer offer what's required, no matter how hard he tries.

In each of our losses to West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Nth yesterday, the common denominator was that we were thrashed in the ruck and in contested ball.

Love Maric for his heart & effort but it's not enough to take us further. Must find a No. 1 ruckman as key priority who has to be super tall and/or athletic. Ill be no surprise that the 4 teams left after next weekend will all have dominant ruckman leading the way.

The game is more midfield than ever and a key ruck gives his midfield crucial first use.

woolly mammoth's became extinct. Not sure that is a compliment.

Yep!

For me it isn't his ruckwork which has stood out, more about the reduction in his 'around the ground' output. I remember that the big Ivan used to be like having an extra clearance player but unfortunately it is sooo not the case any more. Has been hard to even admit, but I reckon the big man is getting near the end...

Out of the 'available' rucks, I would be happiest with seeing what Wet Coke want for Lycett too.

When I've seen Lycett I've liked him. If we can afford him along with the others we are targeting in terms of picks and players then I'm all for him.

Natanui, Goldspunk, Sandi, Mummy, Jacobs... We're behind the eight-ball in finals this year and Ivan and Hampson will only offer less next year.

We have to act now or we'll be in the same place next Septmber or earlier.

Trent Cotchin has drawn a lot of criticism for his performances in our past three finals. Fair enough. He was shithouse in two of them and is our captain. Of course his opponent wasn't influential.

Ivan has been shithouse in the three finals. And his opponent has been very good or usually a match winner. Watch Warnock's domination after half time in 2013. Have a good look at the clearances Gibbs and Judd get and how they start. Then Port. Then Goldstein. Check the cause of their clearance domination.

Who was really BOG on Sunday? Wasn't it Goldstein?

In the case of Cotchin we can say that at least his opponent wasn't BOG (or influential) and that he's a young captain and that he'll learn. What we can say of Ivan is that he's a nice guy.

What we know is that we need a ruckman who can at least nullify a topline ruckman.

He is finished. Most important role in the side and he gets pumped
Half time 12-2 hit outs to advantage. No wonder our midfield sucked big time

Yep put a fork in him.

If he is number 1 ruck next year we will continue to tread water.

Unfortunately is another of the untouchable favourites. Had one good year and since that looks like he runs on a treadmill.

As i said though as one of Dimma's buddies he will never be dropped so we will continue to struggle against any team that has a semi athletic ruckman.

Let's be honest. What are the chances of seeing Ivan running around in the twos? Zilch.

agree-has been a good player for us....but hardly even takes a big mark anymore.
admired his dedication to the cause in our 3 lost finals though.
