Ivan Maric

Has been good over the last month, but man, does he look slow when he chases!

Nothing he could do last night though. Sandi is a beast.

Still in there doing what needed to be done. Chaplin said after the game that he feels sorry for the rucks who have to go up against Sandilands after he defended on him for a bit.

Ivan underperformed on the night. He was destroyed at many of the centre bounces. Sandilands must have just put the ball in Fyfe's hands half a dozen times in that second half. Ivan usually does better than that against Sandi.

In his presser Dimma gave our man a slap in mentioning how often Fyfe cleared at CBs courtesy of Sandilands's domination. But he also rightly mentioned that Ivan did better than hold his own around the ground.

Now there's this very simple thing that Ivvy can do to improve his ratio against the other ruckman despite the centre bounces. He can kick the goal. Missing isn't an option. Two weeks in a row he's squandered goal shots. Gotta lift there.

True Dyer'Ere. Ivan was never going to win the tap battle but he got in and competed, and was "smashed" as Carts said of him last week. He got involved around the ground but yeah, needs to kick those one or two goals late in the game to really hurt sides.

Sandilands 47 HO with 23 HOTA (49%) and Clarke 13 (5) @ 38%.

Ivan 20 (2) @ 10% and Vickery 4(1) @ 25%.

Hard to compete against a freak of nature like AS in the bounces but took some good grabs around the ground

The great man just can't jump at all any more. At times Sandilands gifted the ball to Fyfe while still standing flat footed. Eeevarn just can't get off the ground. Groins I suspect.

He jumped last week, this week he ground into Lurch to allow Griffiths to come in third man
Maric's hands also intercepted a number of mid handballs, he was very active on the ground and contributed to the win

Spot on, Billy. He didn't jump high or often. The plan worked beautifully in the first half. It was to target Sandilands physically. Sandilands got spiteful and lost concentration.

There were several times in the first half when Sandilands was not jumping and just coming in late and low to cork our man. That's why Ivan was getting a good run from the umps. They could see close up how soft Sandilands is. Spite is soft.

And yes, Ivan did some great work in the hurly burly when he was able to influence the ruck contests and the ball fell into the congestion.

But after half time Softilands had enough time at centre bounces to make Fyfe lunch, kiss him on the cheek and send him on his happy way with the football.

We've either lost or squared the categories in our last four wins. We can't get massacred for an hour at CBs and expect to win the match.

If Sandilands had rucked for Richmond and Ivan had rucked for Freo what would the margin have been?

BTW as I mentioned above Ivan usually does better than that against Softi. He was well off IMO.

Sandilands is an interesting proposition at the moment. Is there any point in putting pressure on him when all he does is hit it to Fyfe at every stoppage? You may as well ignore him and jump on Fyfe. That is his only play at the moment.

When Fyfe wasn't around, Mundy took his spot and Sandilands just punched it down to him. Very predictable.

Dont know about predictable. Fremantle killed us in clearances but it wasnt' Fyfe who had the most, he had 9, Neale had 11, Mundy had 9 and Hill and Suban 5. To put that in perspective our highest was Martin with 5 and a few others had 4 including Maric. It was clear that we were trying to limit Fremantle's effectiveness from their clearances rather than outright try and win them. And the plan worked.

Poor bugger has come up against the 2 best tap ruckmen in the league the last 2 games.

You're right, Tee Shirt, yet the Big Fella will give his all for the team and prove his value.
