Ivan Maric

Yeah he's very watchable. Remember Hunt for Red October, the only submarine captain in the Russian fleet who hailed from Glasgow
For some reason they seem to like to cast Scots as Russians. Remember Robbie Coltrane as Zukovsky in two of the Pierce Brosnan Bonds? After footy I'm sure Ivan could make a living playing heavies in films, he's got the whole mad stare and quiet, but menacing voice thing happening.

There were times, jb. There were a lot of times. I said not long before half time that if we had Lobbe and they had Maric we'd have been fifteen goals up. It was a bit of load in retrospect. Maybe eight or nine. I was calling him Tin Man.

And it's so often the case, particularly this year.

But this season he's been able to rally in the second half, asserting himself at contests, then across half back and then today forward.

In the second half that was the old iVahn - The Lion of the Tigers. Matchwinner.

So it's basically the other guy tiring.

Good ruckman but we just need to manage him well through the season..

Find the games to rest up forward more..

It's the other two guys tiring ay times, TTT. Ivan is wearing them down with his will. He's back.

Another big-hearted game, and then he cleans up the rooms after the game!

We are lucky to have him at the club. Standard-setter. Culture-changer. Colossus.

Yep saw big Ivan cleaning the players crap up after the game. No primadonna that man. Love him and a credit to his family.

he got smashed last night IMO.

Bellchambers was very physical early, but big Ivan got better as the game went on, and I thought he flogged Bellchambers in general play.

A tough gig for Ivan on Friday night agsinst Sandilands.

Kidding me? By who? Bellchambers just won the tapouts but was smashed by Ivan around the ground. That's how it looked to me and that's what the stats say. 15 disposals to 7. 10 contested possessions to 2. 7 clearances to 2, even 3 tackles to 1. Bellchambers is a spud and was soundly beaten by Maric.

I thought it was points victory to Ivan, for the reasons you said

Often seems to be labouring by the second quarter but just wills himself on top.

Edit: What Dyer'ere said.

Nah Carter. Thought he did well. Bellchambers got away with murder in the pack marks - big double handed shove outs all night to push our man under the ball so some other Essendum player cud take a mark..

Big Ivvy hammered Bellringer around the ground. Surprised we did nothing about it but Essendrugs had a third man up in the ruck around the ground so often it was ridiculous. Reckon Heppel must have had near a dozen hit outs himself.

Probably lost in the middle, but after an early bit where Bellchambers tried to out muscle him, killed him around the ground in general play.

Yeah, but the big bloke did a great job this week - particularly with the Griffin off for part of the game.
