Hinkley reminds me in appearance of Frank Burns from MASH

Let's just hope he hasn't got his brains too

Hinkley reminds me so much of Geelong in 94 & 95. A time when the Geelong FC dished up filth in GF's and the football culture needed changing.
But, if we are happy serve up the opportunity to a former player (who played like a champion during H&A) and struggled to get a kick when the heat was applied in finals, then I wish the RFC all the best.

some people just refuse to see a positive side no matter what the RFC does ...

Yet Hinkley was part of the review that has been attributed to changing the culture of Geelong?

A review?
Bobby, it took a CEO from the WCE's - the side who embarrased Geelong in 92 & 94 - to change the football culture at Geelong. Not people like Hinkley.

His playing ability has nothing to do with his coaching (which by all reports is very good). I'm happy to sink the boots in when the club deserves it but this time they have actually gone through the proper process and if Hinkley gets it I'm sure it will be well deserved. Are you down at Geelong every week to see what work he does? Have you met him? Do you know what kind of coach he is and what he brings to the table? Anwer is no to all of them so posts like that are absolute rubbish.

Nah fair enough. I just hope he doesn't bring David Mensch or Leigh Tudor along as assistant coaches that's all.

Ask the Geelong players who was personally asking the biggest questions of them.

Brian Cook, Frank Costa brilliant men, but there was an internal football department review done also.

When Gary Ablett says it was Ken Hinkley who was the main coach who turned him around, you need to start paying some attention surely?

Your judging him on football playing ability when.....

Billy Brownless, Anthony Hudson, Andrew Bews, all the players, coaching staff, football staff, executives rave about this bloke. Frank Costa and your man Brian Cook were seriously considering making him an offer to remain at Geelong. Not something to sneeze at.

Who knows if he is the coach for us, he may not be, but to be so dismissive is very foolish in my opinion.

I agree that if he coaches like he played then it will be disappointing. Although right now being a h&a champion sounds better than what we've got.

But would you have guessed watching a late career paul roos go kick chasing that he would one day coach the a team that arguably was the most disciplined and accountable in afl history?

and what was that era einstein, a period where they barely lost a game with the exception of the Big one against record breaking sides in Carlton and WC...if thats the best you can come up with then nice try :hihi...we are interested in Hinkley for his involvment in the Cats golden era as we live and breath not his wil'o the wisp HFF skills...if that were to be the case we'd appoint someone like Roger Merrett...this is all about selecting someone with the ability to lead 40 people and a host of asst coaches

In all honesty I have no way of knowing whether Hinkley can coach or not.

But I have noticed that when on song the Geelong forward line are extronidanlry team orientated and focused on team rules. They are a talented bunch admittedly but I also think they are very well coached by Hinkley or Thompson.

considering theyve lost 3 or 4 games in the last 60, I'd be inclined to agree col ::)

The player culture at Geelong changed years after Cook got there, the main catalyst seemed to be Harley. As for your reservations about Hinkley, the in depth process is designed to bring out the weaknesses. From what March said no the weekend more emphasis on defence is a priority which those old cats sides didn't have.

Its a bit stiff to be knocking him as a player - 3rd in the Brownlow, 2 time All Australian and a Cats best and Fairest. Having said that it means nothing as to how

good a coach he'll be - just look at Wallace.
