Injury Report - Season 2023

Short-term....this again.....for Bauer. Who knows. Sounds good for Shorty, Seth and Gibbo. Also looks like we're keeping Colina.....gotta be joking.
Mate's not costing a spot so why wouldnt you persist? They can obviously see something.

Lynch looking very unlikely this year.

I expect Short to be back for Melbourne game.

Delist Colina, and draft either as Cat B.
We can’t. We can have up to 3 Cat b rookies. There are specific criteria that make them eligible and they don’t tick them including the first one which is they haven’t been registered in a Aussie Rules comp the three years prior to being rookied.

He is costing a spot, might only be a rookie spot but it’s a spot on the list that someone more capable and productive could be providing better value.

Clubs can have up to 3 Cat B rookies on their list, so if the club had anyone in mind for the other 2 spots then they would have been filled.

Seeing that they're still vacant, Colina isn't taking a spot from anyone.

But he's not. We have 2 free Cat B rookie spots we can use if we choose to as you are allowed 3 and we only have 1. The only thing he is costing us a bit of salary cap.

The way I read it is that unless we had three other cat b rookies we wanted to put on the list then he isn’t taking anyone’s spot.

Have the rules changed on cat b rookies now being included within the salary cap? Last I heard it wasn't, from my understanding cat b rookies don't cost anything (draft capital, salary, spot on list) apart from the resources used on the individual player.

Here are the criteria for a Cat B rookie via the AFL website:

In addition to these six rookie-listed players, each club can include up to three additional players (now referred to as Category B rookies) on its Rookie List provided the player either:

• has not registered in an Australian Football competition for three years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List;
• is an international player, meaning he is not an Australian citizen and has not lived in Australia for a substantial period;
• is a former NSW Scholarship player with that club;
• is a former International Scholarship player with that club;
• is a rookie Zone Selection for clubs based in NSW or Queensland.

I'm not sure if Cat B rookies come out of the salary cap or the soft cap, but bearing in mind you get an increase to your salary cap of $80k per rookie, I'd be surprised we were out of pocket by much if anything.

Shorty could well be back V Hawks, but like you said more likely V dees.

Still, hold out hope for Lynch, and if make the finals watch out but if Lynch isn't back then I would look to put Gibcus up forward and partner with Jack.
He has that high heap and would be a dangerous proposition up forward.

Good news on Colina. Once he's back fit and running again all we have to do is teach him how to play football.
