Injury Report - Season 2023

You can’t blame them, their injury list is beyond extreme.

West Coast Eagles part ways with their strength and conditioning Manager, Warren Kofoed

Hasn't that fitness guy been with West Coast for over 10 years?? There were no complaints about him while they were winning.

Tom Lynch Injury Update

Read the latest on Tom Lynch's foot injury.

Tom Lynch speaks to interim Richmond coach Andrew McQualter at a training session on May 24, 2023.

Richmond remains hopeful that Tom Lynch can return from a broken foot in the latter parts of this season but will not take any risks with the star forward.
The Club has been careful with Lynch’s recovery since he sustained the injury in the Round 4 game against the Western Bulldogs.
Richmond High-Performance Manager Luke Meehan provided further clarity on Lynch’s progress.

“The bone healing process takes time, and we want to be absolutely certain that it is right before we step up Tom’s training load,” Meehan said.
“While we remain hopeful that we can get him back at some stage later in the season, it is still difficult to put an exact timeframe on right now.
“Tom will have another scan on the fracture in a couple of weeks, giving us a much clearer picture.”

Meehan added that the Club would not risk further injury by making short-term decisions.

“He is clearly a significant player and someone with a lot of football ahead of him, so his long-term health is our priority,” Meehan added.
“Any long-term injury is frustrating, but Tom is a pro and attacking his rehab really hard, providing leadership around the group and direction for younger forwards.”
Lynch has been a durable player for the Tigers since crossing from Gold Coast ahead of the 2019 season, featuring in 85 matches and booting 192 goals.

Translates to "were screwed and we are giving you a heads up he is not back this year" :)

Not really. Tom is very important and we need to ensure he plays over the next three years with us. Caution is the right key. It's happened, now it's up to the Richmond men to play their part. Do the things we can control best and better. Go Tigers!

Injury report round, 17, 2023

Richmond defender Jayden Short will be unavailable for the medium-term with a hamstring strain.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury in Thursday night's clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.

Meanwhile, Dustin Martin will be available for selection after missing the clash with the Lions due to flu-like symptoms, and Dion Prestia (calf) will be a test to face the Swans.

Richmond Injury List:

Available

Dustin Martin, illness

Test

Dion Prestia, calf

Unavailable

Seth Campbell, adductor (short-term)

Jayden Short, hamstring (medium-term)

Josh Gibcus, hamstring (medium-term)

Kaleb Smith, ankle (long-term)

Tom Lynch, foot (long-term)

Mate Colina, back (long-term)

Robbie Tarrant, hip (indefinite)

Something tells me Dion Prestia will also be available. I think we all thought it was more managed than anything else. That will be two big ins, dusty and Dion.
