Injury Report - Season 2023

Seriously, they have mismanaged several players, especially with hammies. Short looked like a standard hammy so much so that only 3 days ago Luke Meehan said this.

Jayden Short, hamstring

"Shorty's jumping out of his skin to get back, as everyone would expect. He's running, things are progressing really well.... We'll see Jayden back pretty soon.".

Now, in yesterday's presser with Mini, this is what was said. The reporter says; Short seems that his recovery might need to be pushed back a little bit, 4-6 weeks.

Mini said; With a hammy like that hard put to an exact time frame on it to start with.
He's just gonna build his build his rehab and it will be a little bit of that last couple of week period for him, it might go for 1 week or 2 weeks when he really gets back to the end of his rehab. He is progressing atm certainly been no setbacks for him and when he plays again it'll be just a wait-and-see at the end of his rehab.
It’s a type of double speak; let’s coin it ‘Richmond speak’, when it’s information about player injuries.

For example;

“He is progressing atm certainly been no setbacks for him and when he plays again it'll be just a wait-and-see at the end of his rehab”.

Actually means: You will not see him play again for a very long time.

Early prognosis

Short is progressing in his recovery from a hamstring injury, moving from "medium" to "short-term". First-year rookie Campbell is a chance to make his return for just his second VFL game this year. Lynch has now been ruled out for the remainder of the year after fracturing his foot in round three, while Robbie Tarrant has retired effective immediately. – Sarah Black

If we look on the bright side with Gibcus he will be fully recovered, body in good shape and hopefully having a good preseason all ready for 2024. We have missed him but he will be like a new recruit for us.

I just hope that he hasn’t lost any of that spring post op.

Updated today - good news that Short and Bauer both listed as test for this week. Bauer's hammy can't have been too bad at all, and Short has missed 3 games, looks like it was the standard 21-28 day hammy for him.

It should be funny but I weren't laughing

Shorty joked that Luke Meehan has done a diploma this year in hamstring recovery in his SEN interview when discussing the boxes he needed to tick to play this week.

That said a pretty short injury list so not really any excuses.

If it wasn't for the lack of preparation, Bauer would be a perfect inclusion to play the Caddy role to bring the ball to ground against the Demons.

Either that or we have to kick the ball to grass when we enter the forward line, a strategy we actually should use more often at the moment. JR looks to me like he's playing hurt or extremely tired. I don't think it's just age with Jack. He's either hurt or Dusty's boots were 3 sizes too small.

In good news for the Tigers in their finals push, Short and Bauer are both tests to face Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday. Most of Richmond's other injured players remain weeks away, with co-captain Nankervis to miss one more match through suspension. – Dejan Kalinic

You would assume he's back to the ressies if he's cleared to play this weekend?

No VFL this week I believe.
Another bye
i wonder if we ever play praccie matches?- it was mentioned that the 1st week Grundy was dropped so he could work on his forward craft in the VFL they had a bye, but had a practice match against another team with a bye.

Gibbo ruled out for the season. What a waste. Hope he comes back strong from next year.
