Goodbye Mabior Chol

Dunno if youde seen it on tv

But in the last qtr mabs was at Ff.

Ball came in and lions ruckman flattened ivan at CHF then sprinted to his Ff.

Ivan was on the ground

And mabs just floated up the ground like was a wallaby on the yeronga floodplains.

Ball comes into to ruckman

And mabs spoils.

It was supeeb discipline, running and understanding of process and his role

He covered 150m in the last quarter, giving away a 40m start and arrived 40m early

I'm not saying he's not learning, I'm not saying he didn't help the side, and I'm not saying drop him. But I thought he was arse tonight. Back to lazy mabs for many contests. Monstered a lot by that Frankenstein looking mofo.

Chol was terrible. Too laconic & not intense enough, especially driving to contests. For all his potential and gifted left foot, there’s way too much variation between his potential best (he’s never had a great total game just glimpses) and his worst. I really don’t know if this will ever improve. His ruck work is ineffectual too.

Mabs needs to tighten up the consistency of his performance if he wants a long career in the AFL. If he doesn't it will again cost him his place in the 22 come the pointy end of the season.

Consistency is clearly an issue, but he is young, relatively new to the game. He doesn’t seem to be the competitive beast we’d all like to see, but his physicality in the contest has improved compared to last year. Has always been a trail the defender kind of player, but and it seemed more pronounced in this game.

Thought he contributed more than Soldo around the ground, and wasn’t far from nailing a goal of the year contender... so is worth persisting with for another week. But surely it won’t be much longer until we see CCJ come in should he fail to lift.

I think Mabior Pendleberry stays.

Hes a bit of a freak, and Covid footy suits freaks.

Theres 2 blokes I didn't expect to possibly cement a place in the 22: Mpendles and Kmac.

and theres another 2 blokes I didnt expect to make a case for an AA jumper: $hai Bolton and Notorius Balta

(edit: 3 blokes. Bakes has to be in the AA conversation)

Hows that? 4 blokes who spent significant VFL time last year.

WOW

Seemed intimidated by the huge Brisbane unit and contributed very little. (Soldo lowered his colours also.)

Reckon Hardwick likes having him in the side because he can be thrown around and is a difficult match-up; you never know where he is going to bob up. Disappointments like last night come with the territory of playing him. Think CCJ is injured so he is probably safe for another week.

There are some similarities with last year where he played some great games then tapered off badly. I hope we don't see a repeat. Nank is waiting to take his spot.

Our rucks were poor.

Agree they were not brilliant. With Soldo it appear to me that he was trying to tap to a designated spot. Martin and Bolton were the guys to run to that spot. Didn't work most times but first time I have seen them trying this on most occasions. Maybe they are working on a plan with Soldo and might take a while for that to work.

With Chol he has this ability to get the ground ball. Quite freaky sometimes. And it always looks like he is in slow motion.

Even though they were poor overall I still say we keep playing them. Bonus if it all comes together and bigger bonus with Chol's chaos factor - no one knows where the ball is going when he gets involved.

His high points involve insane athleticism getting him out of trouble in unexpected ways.

In between those high points I’d like to see some meat and potatoes.

Not as good last night but he still seemed to threaten to make something happen. His follow up work is first class. Ball just seems to pop back up to him.

Im a tad surprised by those jumping off the Chol bandwagon. He is an X factor and I still think he did some nice things last night. Firmly stays in for mine.
