Just heard about the great Seve Ballesteros passing ......

A great loss , far to young.

RIP Seve, one of the truly greats to watch play the game of Golf

RIP Seve. Just 54 years old. Bewilders me on how these illnesses suddenly happen.

such a sad loss.

the best golf player to come out of Europe.

a champion. won all over the world, including Australia. Won 5 majors, 9 US & 50 European tour events, plus 42 other titles around the world.

On the back of his latest injury/poor tournament, Tiger is set to drop out of the world top ten for the first time since 1997.

Hasn't won a major since before his scandal broke and you have to wonder if he'll ever get his A game back again..
Who said golf isn't a mind game?

Jack may just keep his majors record. A few years back, it looked as though Tiger would pass him easily.

WOW....say/think what you want about Tiger, but without him, GOLF doesn't even rate a mention with him out of th loop.

This thread is a perfect testimony to that, hell there's a major underway and not one post leading up to or about the 1st Rd.

Amazing the effect a phenom can have on a sport, isn't it.

Tiger or not I have the same passion for golf. Love all the majors, US Open is always a great test.

Would like to see McIlroy win it after his Masters collapse

Me too...nothing beats a major golf tourney IMO.

McIlroy is a great talent. Made that difficult course look relatively easy.

No doubt golf's overall appeal won't be as great in Tiger's absence. Like Jordan before him his brilliance transcended the sport to the mainstream.

I need a new driver. Has anyone played with a Geek Golf head ? I come from the grip it and rip it school of golf where the only prize worth winning is the longest drive novelty prize.

These heads look appealing but there is no reseller where I am.

Some key stats

(Greens Hit) (Sand Saves) (Fairways Hit) (Dist. Drive) (Putts) (Putt Avg)
-6 Rory McIlroy 17/18 1/1 9/14 318 29 1.61
-2 Scott Hend (of 20) 12/20 5/6 4/15 346 30 1.50
E Jason Day 14/18 3/3 8/14 308 32 1.78
E Aaron Baddeley 11/18 1/2 8/14 308 28 1.56
+2 Robert Allenby 12/18 0/2 10/14 289 32 1.78
+3 Adam Scott 11/18 1/2 8/14 303 32 1.78
+4 Geoff Ogilvy 12/18 0/1 8/14 304 31 1.72

Rory clearly killing them due to greens hit, sensational considering fairways hit is about the same.

Hend did well due to his sand saves and putting.

Day, Allenby, & Scott need to putt better

simply hitting greens will improve your chances of a good score. of course you have to drop some putts. saves around the green can keep you in it.
