Bloody hell Shoreflea. He was rising but stopped at -1. Cameron Smith stalled. Mickelson...hack!! Surprised he rose to 6+ when he was 9+ at one stage. Even Simpson's gone downhill.

Round 2 2024 PRE US Open Championship

A tight leaderboard at the US Open after round 2 - both on the course and in the 2024 PRE US Open.

Matsuyama would have been in a few punters minds I bet. But only furball selected him. Shoots 4 under. Ditto Detry who continues his solid form with a 3 under. Horschel goes 3 under as well for a few punters. But number 1 pick Snuffler struggles with a 4 over. However, he sneaks into the cut and will no doubt perform for PRE competitors regardless.

That US Open leaderboard is stacked. There's 25 players within 6 shots of the lead. The way the course is playing any of them could win.
Shows how bad this overall performance is with 6+ as the cut and the weather perfect.

If Souffele could get a bit straighter off the tee, he’d be leading this thing.
Yeh, the rest of his game is great. Anyone can still win it.

The only players to make the cut putting worse than Shuffles are Spieth & Koepka. Koepka 3 putted from about 4 ft at one stage.

Great day for De Chambeau. He went up while others went down. Rose to -8 double bogey to -6 and birdied back to -7 while Rory and others remain at -4. Bad luck to Finau with the triple bogey and Matsuyama's coming back in to top 5. As for my team, it's another spoon.....again.....even Shoreflea can't save me. A lot tricky greens at North Carolina.

Cantlay & Dechumbo should be penalised for their slow play.

They are playing in the last 2 groups again and end up miles behind the groups in front. Take way too long. It probably impacted on Aberg who is a faster player.

Rory hates Cantlay (who doesn't) , I am not necessarily a big Rory fan but geez I hope he can flog Cantlay.

not sure about that.....imo more how difficult it is
You're right. I watched more of it this morning. Killer greens with the ball rolling back so often although a lot of shots into the rough and bunkers. That final 18th hole looks a monster to get through.

u've gotta hand it to shambles.
probably works harder than anyone on either tour.
courage of his single length convictions (very handy beforehand)
pushed thru the bullying, crowd inciting koepka antics.

i admire anything different in golf.
cue the outrage of his approved iron head design if he wins.

Yeah did well with that right hip injury he's carrying.

Round 3 2024 PRE US Open Championship

Another tough day at Pinehurst and in the 2024 PRE US Open. This is what it's all about baby !

On the course, Fat Neck De Chumpo puts a stretch on the field. When others fell apart on the back 9, he put the foot down. Some amazing shots. Lucky for the field he had a hiccup on 16 with that double bogey. The piddly little driveable 13th ends Tony Finau's hopes with a triple. Ditto The Iceberg I feel. I really don't understand why so many of these guys are leaving it short with their approaches into the green.

Only 7 players shoot under par. That's tough. I feel De Chumpo may have bolted and that really, the only guy who might be able to catch him is Rory.

In the PRE US Open Championship we have significant movement.

MD Jazz shoots the best round of the day with a 8 over which catapults him all the way from 5th place into 1st place at 17 over in total. Nice round Miles. But it's tight. Danners is still just one shot back at 18 over. Aiming for his first major is Danners. Toigs is another 2 shots back in 3rd place at 20 over and still right in it. I don't have a good round and fall to 4th spot at 23 over. And spoof finally stays calm, doesnt make a mess of himself, shoots the second best round of the day, and is the biggest climber (along with Miles) going from 11th to equal 5th along with furball, both at 24 over. Poor old Beets though. He goes from 2nd all the way to 8th ! due to 4 players not making the cut.

Whilst the US Open looks like it can only be won by a few, the PRE US Open is far wider. With so many players capable of shooting anything on a course like this, we could still see a lot of change.

Anyway, the 3rd round average was 73.189. Add 2 strokes and you get a 75 - 5 over. With that, any players not making the cut received a 5 over score in the US Open PRE Championship.

Check your scores. If I've bungled anything, let me know. Good evening.

Fight for the spoon is also tight between myself and CC. I'm depending on Shoreflea to have a better final day.

All golf officials are as weak as *smile*. They’re all utterly useless. These 2 are serial slow play offenders and they get away with it all the time. Does my head in.

Luckily Rory doesn’t have to play with De Chumpo in the final round.

Go Rory.

Was that fitness test on his hip allowed? Never saw it before during a golf tourno.

Yeh, I have flipped my opinion of him completely, other than the excrutiatigly slow play.

To play the game different to anyone else and excel makes you appreciate what is possible.

There is little doubt he works extremely hard on his game and has earnt any success.

I will not begrudge him a win. Anyone but Cantlay for me.

Might be worse playing with Cantlay, he is slower. And Cantlay has got fat, he looks sloppy.

Dechumbo is lucky he is not paired with Rory, reckon playing with Rory would have messed with his head a little. And it probably would have fired Rory up.

Should be a great spectacle, the course has really ghrown on me. It ain't impossible, just requires great shot making, putting and patience.

And I sort of like the lottery of the native areas. You can still get a decent lie & play out of them most times.

De Chumpo was lucky several times today with lies off the fairway.

Yeh, he hit it so wide a couple of times he missed the grasses and found the hardpan.

Souffle has had a fair bit of luck with his lies too. It really isn't that thisk and those grasses repel the balls into space usually. I haven't seen too many dead lies in the native areas. And as dechump showed, you can generate some great stop off the hardpan.
