Golf

Very tough test, great win by Shuffler. He was a bit stiff with the putter (lipped out 4 times?) but managed himself well.

He really is a tough course expert.

Hard to see anyone beating Snuffler next week.

He’s a great golfer but I’m not sure there’s the quality around him right now that we’ve seen in previous eras.

Yeh the PGA tour is missing the LIV defectors and the likes of Thomas/Speith/Cantlay etc are out of form and have been for a while.

He is playing super but the depth and quality is not there at moment.

THE 2024 PRE US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP !

1718065076502.png

And here it is. The third 2024 PRE Major of the year - the PRE US Open Championship from the venerable Pinehurst No.2 in North Carolina. What a golf course. I've played it twice and Moops has also played it too. Great course, great village. In my mind, the US Open has the best courses for play. Better than the BO and PGA rotations at least. Always thought the Putter Boy logo looked like a kid taking a *smile*. Heh heh heh....those crazy Americans. Anyway.

Can Moops use his course knowledge to crack his first ever PRE Major win ? The best PRE player to never win a major ? Colin Moopsgomerie ? We'll see.

Can spoof do a double ? What about triple major winner Angle ? Had a disapointng Red Jacket a few months ago. PGA meh. 2024 standards not up to scratch. Tenancious ? Another 3 time winner. Hasn't been sighted since 2022 though. BT and Toigs....2 time winners. Where are their games at ? And then of course there's Mr Burnside. Perennial dud.

Ok. The rules again:

Pick eight players with a combined price of 350 or under. Best six scores are counted EACH DAY and added up for a daily team score. The daily team scores are then added up each day to provide a rolling leaderboard with the lowest total at the end of 4 days being the winner (Redford P. Reds).

Any players in your team that don’t make the cut are given a daily score of field average plus two.

In the event of a tie, the lowest final round team score wins.

Any WDs will be subbed by the player immediately below your WD.

Entries close Thursday June 13 at 8.30 pm when the first group goes off.

Anybody is welcome to play. Good luck and may the best Redford win.

Team Mopsy has lost patience with Windy Clark. If he comes good this week I'm likely to throw my 4 iron at the tv in disgust.

Tossed up putting Spieth in this week as I reckon Pinehurst could suit him, but just couldn't do it.

Winning team looks like this

S Scheffler 120
B DeChambeau 85
W Zalatoris 50
B Hun An 35
N Hojgaard 27
H English 22
A Svensson 8
W Simpson 3

Total = 350

The greens and the rough are what sets this course apart from all the others on tour.

Can't think of any course like it off the top of my head.

Par will be an outstanding score this week imo.

Hideki Matsuyama is only 70 so you've got an extra 5 points to play with (9 in total) if you want to furball.
