Yeah no doubt. ;D

Played off scratch back in about 1990-94. I went to that sport achievement school (Kooralbyn) that other good golfers went to, like Scott and others. Clearly I paved the way for their success.
Did you mainly play in Qld(which course) or else where.

Is Kooralbyn valley the one where they give a dozen balls if you play to your handicap?

Yeah CC, home club was Kooralbyn (I worked there after I finished school) but played most of the better courses in Brisbane at the time playing amateur events. Played Aussie Amateurs and Juniors and a couple of Aussie Open qualifiers around then too (missed the 1990 Open at the The Australian by a shot thank god, lol).

And yeah, every Thursday Kooralbyn has the Copperhead if you have 71 nett or better. They invite you back to a yearly championship every year if you win one too. It's an absolutely stunning course with holes cut out of pristine Queensland bush. You can rarely see any other hole than the one you're playing.

I worked on the Gold Coast for a while but never got there, best course up there Ive played is Brookwater, rest seem a bit to resorty.

Went to RQ 3 weeks before the players championship an thought I'd gone to a public track, went back when the PC were on and could not get over the difference in the place

Kooralbyn. Is that the place with all the kangaroos everywhere in the photos you always see of it ?

Only Queensland courses I've played are Pacific and Arundel Hills. Had a good look around Hope Island, Robina, The Colonial, Royal Pines, Indooroopilly, Royal Queensland and The Glades, but never bothered playing any of them.

It's a different game in America.

You can say that again. They're not as serious about the game itself as we and the Brits are.

They're more concerned about the comforts, the amenities, the conditions and aesthetics, networking and taking the game itself more casually. We should put the general American golfer on the Soft Thread.

I dunno, I kinda like their attitude. They don't play comps unless they're good enough to get into state amateurs or such, so they just play skins and drink. Sounds good to me.

Dont get me started on Arundel Hills attitude of a Augusta,Course no better then Yarra Bend

Nah. I reckon they're soft. And they certainly have no idea about the rules either.

A few times when my mates and I were wiping their dial over there some years ago (my mates are good players......+1 and 1 handicaps respectively), a couple of Yanks actually walked off the course on us. Once at the TPC at Scottsdale when we were playing with an architect of Jack Nicklaus', and the other when the club champion at Merion got so pissed off he decided he wanted to chuck it in - and we were his guests at Merion too !

They walked......did someone word them up on the likely size of the bar tab if they lost?
