Golf

Seriously, I would like to see Allenby go to the long putter. It would be almost impossible to have all that lateral shoulder movement through the stroke using one of those.

Yeah I've met Allenby and I got the impression he's a real wanker. Think both he and Scott should try the claw.
Trust me Disco you got that right,Puttings a very mental thing confidence an the like I dont think Claw will fill them with that he probally make them give the game away ;D

Are you suggesting that Adidas and Nike dont know how to make sports shoes ? Are you also saying that guys like Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, Appleby, Ogilvy and a hundred other world class pros are all compromising their games by using their equipment ?

Aaah Cliff Claven my cherubic furry friend. Cobra, Titleist and…wait for it….FJ… are all brands that fall under the Acushnet company umbrella. Acushnet is part of Fortune Brands, a NYSE listed company.

Acushnet sponsor hundreds of players to use their equipment. Thus, when you see a Titleist or Cobra player, check out what shoes they’re wearing. In most cases, they’re wearing FJ’s, which dispels your “FJ pay nobody” theory. Actually, I reckon the sales rep from FJ just told you that story to fob you off when you asked them to sponsor you ! Haaaaaaaaaaaargh haaaaaaaarrgh haaaargh haaaaaaaaaaaaaargh !

(Actually, Scott and Ogilvy are Acushnet boys, so they don’t wear Adidas or Nike as I mentioned previously. They…no co-incidence….wear FJ’s. As does DL 3…who amazingly…also plays Titleist.)

Pretty sure CC knew that, being an ex pro and all :)

And I also think, if you read his statement closely, he's right about the sponsorships. They give their stuff away, but that's not technically paying, is it?

Thank you Norm,an what a magnificent company Acushnet is ;D,now like myself I of course would not just sell myself to the highest bidder but simply use the best avaliable product which of course is FJ an its just lucky that they are under the same wonderful umbrella as the finest clubs on the market Cobra.

I feel for the average Joe who gets all wrapped up in the magazines an glossy photo's of half naked women an then thinks that Nike an the like are actually a good product.

No refrence of course made to the wonderful product REEBOK ;D

He's absolutely 100% incorrect. Otherwise, are you telling me that Scott, Ogilvy, Love 3 etc. - who all play under the Acushnet banner - just happen to all co-incidentally be wearing FJ's for the love of it ?

As for giving stuff away, yeah we give away trips and crap to financial advisers who support our products but thats not paying for them to use us either I guess.

Haaaaaaaaargh haaaaaaaaargh haaaragh .....are you still using those cheapo, second rate things ? You're only using them because Crowie gave you a free set 20 years ago when he still owned the company ! Hah hah hah....

Yeah, I'm saying I've always understood that a Titleist/FJ sponsorship meant you got free gear, that's it. They don't hand over cash to players as other companies do.

I'm no expert but I do know that the Nike and Adidas(particularly) brands I tried were nowhere near as comfortable and many were made of synthetic as opposed to the leather of the FJs, yet were often as expensive.

About the only good thing Cobra ever produced were those blades of theirs that they had in the early 90's (forget the model name). Otherwise the rest of their stuff has been tacky, gimmicky junk ! And they look sh*t as well !

(One thing I will say about them though, is the ads they had last year with Ogilvy and Feherty were very..very funny. When Ogilvy goes "Geez" that just cracks me up.)
