As a man of leisure who's doing nothing but hang around golf clubs all day and play golf, and me not having played any more than 4 rounds of competitive golf in the last 4-5 years, I reckon it would the gentlemanly thing to spot me at least 26 (a side).

Will I have to stand to the left of you when you're using a short iron ?

My back foot.

Soft answer.

Yeah, but admit it, you thought it was funny. As Homer would say...maybe you were even "slightly interested."

If you read my post to Cliff Claven just after, you'd deduce that I dont have one at present.

Come on, I don't care if it's official or not, gimme a number! ;D

Lowest is 2.5 (to be precise...or in other words 3). That was years ago and I couldnt play to 36 at the moment.

What about you ? I hear Woods is lucky that you decided to give golf the back seat years ago.

Yeah no doubt. ;D

Played off scratch back in about 1990-94. I went to that sport achievement school (Kooralbyn) that other good golfers went to, like Scott and others. Clearly I paved the way for their success.

That's when I was playing buckets of golf too...around that 1990-96 time frame. Since then I've hardly played bar a short return that was on/off for 18 months around 2000 to 2002.

What do you make of technology in the game nowadays Duckman ? Since 1990, technology in the game has really changed things a lot dont you think ?

Yep, it's ridiculous how much it's changed. I've been working on and off at my current place for 11 years and remember Trevino and Terry Gale hitting 5 irons into par 4's when we opened that average B graders can hit with wedges now. Sad really, the great courses have been reduced to pitch and putt or to tricking themselves up to challenge good golfers.

Totally agree. Its a great shame what its done to so many marvellous courses.

And you know, even saying the improvements that its made to those B graders games, its actually the pros who have derived the greatest benefit.

I read a sensational article in SI a few years ago (that I wish I had kept) proving from excerpts of research that was conducted by the USGA and R&A, that where improvements in technology have had the greatest impact, is with the professional "bomber" who generates the most club head speed. In other words, technology is also (to a large degree, not completely)separating the less powerful or finesse based player from the game. That also is a great shame imo.

I really noticed the equipment difference last year ,I went back to my old course where I use to play some decent golf an now I cant bust eggs yet i was getting to places Id never been to before mainly due to the fact of the Cobra Speed driver an the Titleist pro v an of course the fantastic grip in my footjoys ;D
