Some dodgy putters getting about. The broomsticks and that one where they lock the shaft to the inside of the arm should be banned.

By and large a very forgettable day for the Aussies.

Cameron Smith our best chance from here you would think.

Very nice first round by your boys Mopsy. I thought about Webb and his straight driving. He has a very good record at the open too. Finished T16th last time at this course. Good selection.

*smile* Bland in at E, Armitage -1.

The Mad Cow's depth players get it done, need the stars to lift now.
Same. I keep putting Thomas in (thought about swapping him out for Speith or Morikowa) and he keeps plodding around.

Like seeing Speith do well.

This course is setting up very well for Spieth.
Its interesting, they talked about how penal the rough is and you'd need to hit fairways. The rough changes so much its more about the type of rough you land in and a bit of luck with lies. Watching guys still hit it 180 out of the rough and stopping it on greens indicates in the main its not that bad. If the wind doesn't blow too much they should keep shooting good scores.

It's all set up for Spieth. He can use a driving iron on a number of holes, a lot of the greens are big with straight and/or flat putts, and there's big chipping areas around the greens as well. It's super easy for someone like him to get up and down if he misses a green. He's gonna drain a heap of straight and slow 15 to 20 footers.
