Golf

Some big names have cruelled their chances on day one Mcilroy 80, Day 79, Spieth 78, Mickelson 77, Tiger looking at a 80 plus, he 4 putted the 13th.

Mickelson penalised two shots for hitting a moving ball on the green, he dead set cheated and should've been disqualified!!!!

You’d think it’s a British open with the leaderboard the way it is.

Holly *smile* just looked at Mickelson incident tigerman, spot on should have been DQ , that ball was travelling quicker then a Mitch Starc bouncer. Disgrace

If a non USA player had done that the commentators would have been outraged, they've gone too easy on their favourite son.

The god damn yankee rednecks in the gallery have been very rude to Stenson and Rose, typical.

I’m in the minority gutfull, I don’t mind the one event of the year been set up super tough, in saying that there may have been a couple of pin spots that crossed the line with the firmness of the greens . They all play the same course and it’s only the one event each year, just about every other tournament is at the same course as the previous year where they all know the course back to front and it’s so often a putt out.

I agree with you Mr B, although with what happen the last time the US Open was played at Shinnecock, i thought they may have kept that in mind.

Interesting results in the past they were bringing up, Ogilvy shot over par everyday when he won, great event, nobody loses there life over it ,it’s just getting a little white ball in a hole and if it happens to take 280 shots instead of 260 so be it.

As a PGA.member l can tell you the pro's know its a tough USGA week ...
That’s the thing about the US Open, everybody knows it’s going to brutally tough, yet pretty much every year there’s players, media, fans having a whinge it’s too hard plus there’s always some player in a practice round taking a photo of how deep the rough is, it is what it is, always has been always will be.

Side note they bought up the other day was when Tiger won at Pebble Beach in 2000 by 15 I think, just shows how good he was, I think they said Els came second to him in 2 majors in a row and was a total 23 shots behind .

Agree 100%..
Mickelson should’ve been disqualified at worst, at best, he should’ve disqualified himself.
If he tees it up in round 4, all respect will disappear in my eyes and I’ll lump him in the same bracket as Vijay Singh.
I love golf and have been playing on and off for 25 years, played pennant, played in some pretty big amateur events and caddied in some Aussie tournaments and seen players get away with some dodgy *smile* through rules abuse but this takes the cake.

Shinnecock is playing a lot easier today, course officials have been suitably chastened. Some lower scores being shot Tommy Fleetwood is 5 under through 13, Matthew Fitzpatrick 4 under through 10.

Like Tommy Fleetwood and Branden Grace at odds. Would love to see tiger boy Leish win it though.

Great course, should be a ripper, although forecast is pretty placid, sunny and not too windy.
Looking a great call right now
