It basically means that Betfair will be allowed to set markets on golfing events that come under the PGA Australasia banner and by liaison between the bodies they will determine what those markets will be - obvious ones like winner and top 5 and then less obvious ones like Player A's score v Player B's score. In return the PGA will likely benefit from the profits generated through the wagering on those events. Further, there will be full disclosure between the bodies so as to track and thus eliminate suspicius behaviour (ie tanking and the like) which thankfully golf doesn't seem to have much of a problem with.
Just further, Betfair have signed MOU's with just about every major sporting body in Australia, if not the world bar the USA where as we know they are a strange kettle of fish.
It further highlights the absurd stand taken by racing bodies in Australia who would be better off working with Betfair than against because they are here to stay. Unfortunately the selfishness of the racing bodies and the pig headed attitude of those in charge is actually harming racing as a sport. Take away the Spring Carnival and all is far from rosy. Those in power are more concerned with protecting the monopoly that exists today and their own overpaid positions.
And that especially includes you McDuff, Harding, Nason and Ramsden.

In terms of Betting options you are right, Betfair will not provide more options than the Scabs. However, once Betfair can legally advertise in Australia their business will grow rapidly (IMO).
Why back someone to win a gold tournament at $10 when $15 is available - plus a percentage will go to help the grass roots of the sport being wagered on.
It is the most hypocritical position a sporting body has ever taken when those that run racing question the integrity of Betfair when you can bet $10,000 in a TAB without question.
