Goldposts - The best of Punt Road End

This was one of the best posts I have ever read on PRE regarding the progress of Tyler Fishlock. I am sure everyone here would agree.

Prognosis to begin with was not at all positive but after a long year of fighting cancer, 14 rounds of chemo, 105 nights in hospital, a 14 hour surgery, 25 transfusions of blood and platelets, 25 finger pricks, 45 dressing changes, 27 MRI, bone scans and test, 4 biopsy surgerys, four trips to emergency, and four life threatening infections, Georgette and I are over the moon to let you all know that Tyler has yet again kicked cancer ass !!! He is now in remission and cancer free. Thank you to all our dear friends (Tigers or not !!) and family for sticking by us through these challenging times, and for supporting us:)

Time for a huge exhale i think.

We are truly thankful.

Also a couple of pearlers from this week from our wordsmith golly..

Re the prospect of Jobe Watson keeping the Brownlow in the wake of the Bombers doping scandal..

Might as well use The brownlow to get a shopping trolley at Aldi, if they leave one in a drug cheats undies drawer I reckon. Be like giving the Victoria Cross to a bloke that shat his pants and bolted when approached by an unarmed italian security guard.

and this regarding missing posters on PRE.

I suppose you could die in your tiger beanie having a cup of tea and become a cob-webbed skeleton wearing a tiger beanie, finger bones wrapped around a tea cup, and none of us in cyberspace would ever really know. Thats kind of reassuring, in a way.

This quote from Tigers of Old in the face of unprecedented cyber-pressure regarding his upcoming significant posting milestone

golden silence. :hihi

I reckon sausage-meat69 is a fairly glittering moniker also. Not quite as deft as mycotchinrules, but notable all the same. PRE with The Wall is cool. Flushes posters out.

On TV's coverage against carlton this thursday.

Taking the liberty to post on behalf of Dyer'ere.

I can't get on Goldposts (tech Linux thing I don't understand) to quote this tgw, but it's gold, mate.

Thanks, Rosy. That was a cracken line from tigergollywog.

For space reasons I quote every post, but I nominate TGW's start to 2014 as GOLD. I reckon he has hit a vein of form the likes of which PRE has not seen for some time. Think mid 90's Wayne Carey.

kind of you Tbar. but wayne carey? Richo circa 96 id love. Nathan Brown '05? oh yeah. Even Kouta 1995 model I could dig. but Wayne Carey gives me a very uneasy feeling, deep in my navel. needless to say, Mrs GW is beside herself with worry with the analogy.

So I spoke with Mrs GW and the other owners and we are in agreement. we're turning me out. just a freshen up, mind you. Gonna try win the Mcbean Cup on Good Friday.

D N T, hes dyno-mite.

To the perennial list-of-champions pot at the end of the rainbow

The truth is, Petterd has been a successful, inexpensive addition to our team. "we need better" "dud,Delist" is about as useful as "print more money" in an economic debate.

clear, concise, effective use of analogy.

Reckon Kouta 99 was better, but I get your point. Maybe 1995 draw V Essendon Juricalike. Does that feel better?

Its been a tough couple of weeks on PRE.

Goldtiger had some interesting points to offer about politics, gender and psychology, to which mid declared

Hahaha.

This logic always baffles me.

Hardwick standing staunchly in front of his selection committee. A sea of concerned faces look up at him.

"Dimma, we need to drop Grigg, I've heard he has no arms."
Dimma glares him down,
"Nay," He bellows, "I heart Grigg. He plays."
"Okay Dimma," says another, "then we must drop Newman. He sometimes doesn't kick goals."
"Nay," He bellows, "We are BFFs. He plays."

The above. It does not happen.

Players are selected on logic/planning/tactics/availability. Not how much they're liked. Even if it was the case that Dimma had some personal connection with Petterd, over, say Foley, that would not affect who he and the selection committee chose to play in any given situation.

It's akin to some of the logic going around here that Vickery was recruited because of the boxing coach.

I picture Vickery's dad with Dimma under one arm, FJ under the other, giving them alternating noogies until they pick his son.
