General Trade Discussion 2022

Would Dunkley suit us, in lieu of Hopper?

I would take him. Our problem is we dont have the draft capital to appease the Dogs. They wanted two first rounders from the Lions. We can't do that. We could do a F1 and 31 like for Hopper but don't expect the Dogs would do that.

Changing tact now would be a PR disaster. You don’t wine and dine a player and then leave him at the alter.

Leave that crap to the likes of Dildoro.

You may as well be telling me the Sherrin is green.

You might want to consider why the AFL would negotiate with a union to create a collective bargaining agreement for people they don't employ however. That seems unusual.
LOL, happens every day mate in all industries

Here in WA the CCI (employer body) will negotiate with the Unions for Projects.

In Vic & I was party to this 3 or 4 years ago , the ETU negotiated with NECA ( Electrical Industry body ) for the Electrical Contacting Vic EBA

You would have to laugh if GWS, with all the picks they have amassed, 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 and maybe our 31 they end up can’t using, or lolnorf turn around and say they won’t trade pick 1 for some of their picks.

The last thing GWS want is another batch of top picks that will end up for midfielders or flankers.

What do WCE get for such a downgrade? Assume a first rounder in 2023?

They haven't been clear but looks like the basis will be:

Giants - Pick 1
North - Picks 2 and 3 and Ports F1
West Coast - Picks 8 and 12
Port - JHF and Rioli

Article I read said a number of other pick swaps. Reckon some future picks from North will head to West Coast and possibly Pick 33 from Port.

I'm thinking something like

Giants - Pick 1
North Picks 2 and 3 and Ports F1
West Coast - Picks 8, 12 33 and Norths F2
Port - JHF and Rioli

Might be some minor adjustments too, but seems like that it likely to be the jist of it

West Coast should be pretty happy with that, likely walk away with Busslinger and Hewett.
Giants will take Cadman if this happens
North probably take Wardlaw and Sheezel

Port would happy with that.
Lets say they have a similar season in 2023 and end up with pick 8 again.
so its two pick 8s for JHF.
Bargain. No chance of getting elite talent otherwise.

North reasonably happy as they can reset.
Minor downgrades at the start of the draft, then upgrading their F2 for Ports F1, say 19 to 8.

Wet Coast need this. Their list has zero youth so this quickly bulks up their depth.
they,ll get more chances at the absolute elitebin the next few years.
Similar strategy to us last year.

GWSwampies get first crack at #1.
Is it worth it?

Would be a win allround here.
