General Trade Discussion 2022

you'd think 25 needs to go back to GC for the Bowes deal and they'll need to chop pick 7 into 2 picks to send one to collingwood for Henry.

No idea what they give back to GC for Bowes, they seem to be trading away all of their picks as I think 25 goes for Henry.

Surely it wouldn't be 7 and Bowes for a F3. That seems like Geelong are really screwing them, but they don't have a lot left over.

25, 58, 64 this year
F1, F3 and F4 next year

Maybe they do trade Ratagulea and give that pick (assuming a 3rd) to GC along with their F3 but that would leave them only Pick 7 and their F1 for the draft for the next 2 years. Maybe they are happy with that.

Collingwood will play hard ball and demand a better pick than 25. Who knows what Gold Coast want - they have no idea what they are doing.

Looks like Dunkley will get stranded at the alter again.

F1 (Lions), F2 (Geelong) and 21 will get it done. Still leaves the Lions with 2549 points. If they can't find more points this year, they will take the deficit off their 2nd next year. They'll also be hoping like hell that North don't bid on Ashcroft at 1

You keep saying this but its simply not true

I'm not sure what the dispute is there? It says plainly in 2.1 the agreement is with the player, club and AFL?

It's the same as my daughter who is a primary school teacher, she is employed at a certain primary school, and managed locally there for day to day issues, but her employer is ultimately the Department of Education or whatever that is called now.

It references the AFL as the CBA is between the AFL & the PA, clearly says everywhere else the contract is with the Clubs & players

& no, its not the same as the Ed dept example you used

He only has himself to blame. Two years in a row he has picked terrible teams to go to in terms of being able to satisfy what the Dogs would want.

They will be.

They have added Bruyn and Henry, both highly rated local boys. Bowes is also on their list and he may or may not get a game over the next four years but he is just a means to an end. This year they will take pick 7 and upgrade 2 rookies, one of whom will be Stengle. I can’t be bothered looking at their list but Zach Guthrie could be the other, or someone else, it doesn’t matter. They will then take a couple of rookies. They will do something similar next year. Who’s to say they won’t hit a successful rookie like they did with Stengle again?

We are going to do much the same thing over the same period.

The combination of the supplementary player listing period and the Mid season drafts have changed the game for teams at the top of the ladder.

For example, if Soldo moves, we will need a back up ruckman. So we will invite three to train for a month or so and take the best one. Mid season, we can take an undrafted 19/20 year old who is carving it up. Without a MSD, that kid would probably go top 20 at the next draft. Just think Jordan Lewis, Harry Taylor, Isaac Smith, Sam Mitchell and countless others. Without an MSD, Jai Newcombe would have been a very early pick the next year. Bauer has given every indication that he would have been drafted in 2022 if available. We just got in early.

There are plenty of options for recruiting teams that do their homework.

I think the Bummers are interested in Paddy Dow. Whatever it takes. Anyone can join Essendon. The door is open.
