General Trade Discussion 2022

If we can't get a deal done for Hopper I wonder whether the Cats might come with a late play

Listening to Mackie today I just feel they've got something up their sleeve

They do the Bowes deal and grab pick 8 then use that in a deal for Hopper. Not sure where that leave Bruhn though.

Has me wondering whether we could donthe Bowes deal and use the pick 8. I don't mind Bowes. Think he has been poorly developed by the suns (Brodie provides hope). But presumably we can't fit him in our cap

Pretty sure that’s very old and just got bought up again. The step dad did time in 2012ish from what I understand for what he had done. At that time he tried to get of it to care for the baby.

There’s a doco on Stan I think it is with jason Horne Francis in his draft year. In that doco he explains he has one day a week of work to care for his baby brother who is 1. That article mentions a much younger baby girl.
The charges might be old but the sentencing was in October 2022. Horne knew this was coming, part of wanting to get home.

Norf have asked Port for Zak Butters but appears they’re gonna have to settle for Riley Bonner. :ROFLMAO:

Until the fax has been sent nothing is concrete, I would be cooling on Hopper & grabbing Bowes even at this late stage. Paying top dollar for 2 inside midfielders quite possibly the worst way to rebuild, much like last year with the flanker at 17, or the year before a skinny tweener over Sam Taylor, we're going about things in the most inefficient manner. Better hope these GWS lads give us a short term fix because another 12th place finish will be extra costly. People already forgetting a 7th place finish in 2022 was actually very flattering considering the softish draw, plenty of potential for another middling finale.
Yeah no worries mate.Lets go after a bloke who can't get a game at the suns and be our 3rd highest paid player on our list.
What a kick in the guts too our premiership players who took a cut too win flags.

Now for the big question, do I settle for Dan's trading in it's entirety or look to the draft for a better return? It's a tough one as I don't particularly like the Prestia trade and feel that pick 6 will give a greater return. In saying that, the Caddy & Nankervis trades were bargains so I'm willing to take the good with the bad.

Ins - Prestia, Caddy, Nankervis
Out - Deledio, Vickery, Maric, Mitch Clark, Marcon, Greg Clark, Reece McKenzie, McKernan, Mitch Grigg, Jaden McGrath

Draft Picks - 26, 27, 57, 80, PSD 6, Rookie 6, Rookie 24, Rookie 42.

This is why I make notes every year, because every year people dig up quotes in isolation, the date October 17 2016, I took the Prestia trade as a package deal. The fact I wanted the Deledio pick in play had nothing to do with Prestia as a player. This is not the same argument, both different players & I can tell you 100% I won't be taking Taranto for this particular exercise.
Though I didn't mention you in my post @bullus_hit .....as there were a multitude of negative comments from that time...... take this as an apology if you feel I have maligned you in some way, shape or form!

Like many others I enjoy reading your insights of stuff I clearly don't have a great grasp of.

I was making the point that not everyone gets everything right.... gee, a couple of days ago I forgot what my name on here was!

Even heard SOS say on radio....
we don't get 'em all right you know!

I think clubs are starting to devalue draft picks, using pick 80 on a kid costs you the same amount across the board as pick 25.
With much less chance of success.
Trading will get bigger with clubs picking over other lists for there wants and needs.

Clubs like us locking players up long term now is smart, when the new tv rights kick in and the salary cap goes sup by 1.5-2 mil over the next 5 year guys like Taranto on 750k will be cheap.

No
How fked would Geelong look like going after a player said no thanks.
He wasn't happy with there offer and he has already said MCG and Big Crowds is the go.
Geelong can pick-up Bruhn. Whoever he is

So after we give all our picks away what's our first pick gonna be, 127?
It's all over by then.
I thought every club needs to make 3 picks minimum.
Can't stand McCartney since he beat us in his comeback match after now goal umpire DRod fluffed a gimme goal.
Should tell 'em to *smile* off back to GreaterWesternSwampLand!

You virtually make that up.
You can delist a player and then redraft him.
1 player, the rest can be part of the Richmond Rookie Factory

3 list changes. Rookie promotion to senior list counts as well

The only issue I have with points and I don’t know how to fix it is that it doesn’t judge the depth of the draft.

A pick 4 in a average draft is worth the same points as in a strong draft.

You are really at the mercy of your internal information to truly understand value.
Yeah, you need a measure of uncertainty to go with the points value

They might have to rename the award to a LW & F (as in Least Worst)
Wth everything going on at that club a the moment, wouldn't surprise me if they even got the B&F winner wrong following a protest from Sheedy in the boardroom.

You can't stand a Bali bombing survivor who recovered from 2nd degree burns to 50% of his body and who almost died during surgery
I was at that game at the then Telstra Dome, i was gutted with the loss but one of the greatest comeback football stories of all time.
Great to see him still involved in footy and doing the best job for his club, (even if it may again be at our expense;)).
