forgive me if there are a few hot takes in here but:
Jack Riewoldt - Treacle - can we carry that anymore? still impacting but the downside is oppo defenders can work off him. hate seeing it.
Dustin Martin - Must be carrying. Gotta be.
Trent Cotchin - Kicked quickly on the break in the last quarter. Knew he'd be caught. Can't play outside no more. For the first time I think he's done.
Shai Bolton - Flashes in and out. The good is brilliant but the poor is unfocused, almost arrogant.
Dylan Grimes - Something is eating him this year. No confidence.
Nick Vlastuin - Injury, lack of continuity, increasingly prone to head knocks, lack of discipline.
Liam Baker - Kicking isn't VFL standard at the moment. Yep, that's actually a big problem.
Marlion Pickett - Takes VFL seconds to decide what to do with the pill. Yep, that's a problem too.
Patrick Naish - Was going to leave him out but he HAD to stick that tackle. If that's his weakness, he can't play.
Jake Aarts - Dumb VFL footballer. There, I've said it.
Kamdyn McIntosh - Kicking is far too agricultural for 2021 football.

Bachar Houli - Cannot impact with speed, fluency and penetration anymore. Sadly, cooked.
Jack Ross - Just not an AFL footballer.
Riley Collier-Dawkins - Far too flat-footed tonight. Needs to get on his bike.
Jack Graham - Gap between the good and the bad is too far. Needed to help carry the midfield tonight but didn't. Not in my best 22 for 2022 at this point.
As you can see, this is the core of the team. We're done. I wouldn't be trading any picks away for ready-made top-ups. If we don't make finals we are officially in the refresh category.

Aside from being killed in clearance, they tried to play long down the line in the second half but Lynch & Jack were poor in the wing contests. They had to bring the ball to ground at least but couldn’t. However game plan is a mess if that’s how we’re playing. Overall lack of movement & players presenting to the ball carrier is startling.
It's like we've been busted Essendon-style and told we're not playing finals. I honestly can't think of anything else that would have this catastrophic effect.

Whenever you compete in any field at the elite level, it is impossible to keep up at the effort needed to keep winning at the highest level. Year after year. We need to conceed this year. Write it off. Get set for next year. Dimma needs to lighten up, reset and draft well to have another go next year.
I’ll say it again. No team outside of Geelong in the modern era have won a flag in their 5th season at the top.
We were always going to be up against history from Rd1, particularly as your stars get older.
I was happy for this to be a transition year. These last 7 weeks and the draft are pivotal to us bouncing back quickly.

Whilst we copped a reaming from the umpires in the Eagles game that wasn’t the reason we lost. That game should have been over at 3/4 time but for our imbecilic forward line play. We *smile* that game and we have no one to blame but ourselves. Should have won by 5 goals.
