Re the Riewoldt tackle that caused so much angst, now there is more time to explain, it's a simple case of no prior opportunity.

Unless he fended, twisted or turned to dodge, baulked etc to avoid being tackled in the first place then there is no way it could be holding the ball.

Perfect tackle, wrapped him straight up with no chance to dispose of the ball legally, ball up.

Without prior opportunity it is nearly impossible to win a free kick for holding the ball.

Have to agree to disagree, I reckon our defensive 50 tackling has saved us 4 goals.
Did he not try to fend off? Hence, having only 1 hand on the ball in the tackle?

Dimma is going to have to pull a rabbit out of his hat, as long as it's not a hare out of his arse.

What about when Sidebum was tackled by the arm by MJ and he just dropped the ball on the ground then brushed it away with his foot? Play on!!

That is not a correct disposal yet the Channel 7 w@nkers praised Sidebum for his efforts. Absolute *smile*.

Wet track which was forecast and we go all tall up front when we have a dangerous mid fwd sitting on the bench. Another game lost at selection. Joke

I think the umpiring tonight has been good, but can’t agree here TBR.

For mine, he took Riewoldt on. It was quick, but it was there. He went to break free.

The unpaid have been good on this tonight, but they missed one here.

When Richmond are playing badly you see a few signs: player gets surrounded but has a split second to get the ball out but there is no-one to give it to. Bomb kicks into forward 50, and lots of kicks to Lynch surrounded by 3 defenders. No running past to receive, in fact, no run.

It isn't jut the disposal issues, it is also that there is no-one to kick it to.

Collingwood are taking the game on, we are not. They are running and spreading, we are obsessed with defending which means Collingwood don't have to, they can just set their defence up across the middle and we can't find anyone to kick it to so bomb it to them.

Their pressure is way above ours too.

Their numbers around the ball are way higher than ours.

We need to take the game on, to push their defence further back, to run and carry, to run past and receive, to separate the tall forwards. In short, we need to do a hell of a lot different to the way we are approaching this game at the moment.

As for the umpiring, well, what a dog's breakfast. Tap the ball in front of you - insufficient intent. Handball it over the line - fine. Grab the ball, stand there and wait to get tackled - ball up. Grab the ball get jumped on - holding the ball. Absolute farce, complete joke.
