Game Day - Tiges V Freo

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Here we are again.

How many chances did we need in the last few minutes, but again we are also talking about easy misses. Jack missed another snap from 30 out, he used to put these through in his sleep. Balta missed from what 25 out dead in front, Soldo similar. Just too many easily missed shots. I won't hang Cumbo for the end one, it happens but doesn't mean I wasn't frustrated at the ground.

If Dimma ever thinks he's a genius again and wants to play Nank in the forward line he needs to give himself a swift uppercut. Nank was a complete liability, not only that he couldn't mark, but his positioning was poor. there was a chance in the 2nd, we kicked the ball high into our forward line, we had a 3 on 2 Nank was behind and we had 2 smalls (might have been Cumbo and Bolton), the smalls stayed down as they should, but Nank didn't even go, giving I think Pearce the easiest of marks, all he had to do was make a contest, get the ball out the back and we would have run in for an easy goal.

In the last we saw the impact of playing too tall in our forward line and 2 short with Nank and Edwards playing, as we had no semblence of a forward structure forward of the ball, hence why we would kick it forward and it just kept coming back.

BTW I watched Edwards a lot in the 2nd half, his speed is all but gone, meaning his positioning is now super important but its actually poor. He positions himself too far forward to impact the midfield, the amount of time the midfielder he is chasing disposes of the ball as he gets there, and plays too deep to impact in the forward line, he's just watching the ball sail over his head both ways and is a liability. Its actually very sad watching such a fallen gun, finishing his career this way.

Tarrant was again superb, not sure how he came across on the screen but the ground he covered was immense, there were a number of times where we had to close 15-20m of space of the lead that Taberner had and pretty much every time closed and spoiled the ball. For me, he was our BOG tonight.

This team is indeed a basket case

But

You cannot win

When you play three key talls that are Nankervis, Balta and Riewoldt

The first is a ruckman

The second is a backman

The third is slow and needs Lynch

This is where we lost. Crystal clear all night.
But you forgot to add - "because we have recruited no-one better." Instead we just select a continual stockpile of skinny, lightweight flankers, even some slow ones like Lennon, or soft ones like CEllis.

To ensure the dumbness theme remains consistent.

He was a machine.

I’ve been shocked by his last few weeks; I wanted him gone a month ago.

Good on him.

Yeah, he blew it, but no team will pay overs for him, and I for one still think he'll be a good player, when played in position - which I think if he took off some weight would be midfield or wing. He's totally wasted in the forward line.
Oh couldnt agree more that he's NOT a Forward, needs to be running in a straight line to be effective. Look, I hope he comes good and can get back to 100% fit and show what he did in the past, I was a huge fan as I have stated before.

The backline was immense today. Freo dominated us for 20 minutes of the fourth quarter for only 2 goals 1 behind. Also, Freo went at 40% efficiency inside 50 which is a very good result for us given our backline issues the last few weeks. Unlucky to not win but at least we gain 2 points

Riewoldt was right there, yelling at him. Blinkers on.
Riewoldt also told Balta to make sure he took his 30 secs. Where was he to tell to get going on his forward movement to kick? They must know Balta has done this before.
Really we are just a joke ... often. So unprofessional - e.g every player practices some goal-kicking. Everyone should have their routine put on a timer so they know exactly the proper timing routine and repeat it over and over to get it right. They do it pre-game.

It's laughable incompetence.

I feel like I just need to mention that Tarrant was Rance-like. We were getting smashed in the last q and he killed it.
Was superb. Only beaten by tavernas once.
Another dissapointing game from Short tonight. Although i think he is another suffering like Balta being played out of poisition. Won a B&F as a HBF. Should be in Hugo's spot atm. Is lost trying to play as a mid.
Short has been disappointing since mid season

You haven’t answered my point Zips.
Based on your logic Freo is a 38 point better side than Melbourne.
Which means that Collingwood is a 74 point better side than Melbourne.
We beat Collingwood by 27 points which makes us a 101 point better team than Melbourne
Collingwood could do us in 17
And bend them all over.

Nah, I reckon I watched 50 games,
I don't see the clock on the TV and some players seem to take ages, the clown from Melbourne takes ages, never gets called.
Hawkins, the same.
I've seen the umpire call play on twice this year both times on Balta.
Show me the clock

O

Number 2 rated defence in the AFL, really well drilled and organised team in the back half.
Have 2 of the best young midfielders in the game in Brayshaw and serong.
Good team. They aren’t the worst team in the 8, I would rate them ahead of Carlton and certainly Collingwood.
Could see their game plan and ability to stick to it. Long Muir is becoming a very good coach..

FFS, Grimes has done his hammy apparently
Tops off a really ordinary 3 weeks for Dylan. With our soft tissue record this year he may not play another game this year.

A potential silver lining is that it may force Hooch to finally clear himself from the haze and put Balta back in the bloody backline.

This…was at the game on level 2 with a great view, was saying it all match how important Lynch is
Aw come on. Don't tell me you have never seen some of Tom's many brain fades and un-missable misses.

I just can't help but wonder if failing an IQ test badly is a pre-requisite for RFC selection.

Dylan looks like a man that has lost all his confidence. The dropped mark against GC has spooked him and he did another one today for the Walters goal.

1 goal 3. If that's pretty well... my oh my how standards have fallen.
Yep, went backwards on his 2.6 from last week. I also cannot believe how poor he has got with ground balls plus backs just running off him for a long time now. Often stuffs up attacking entries.
