GAME DAY THREAD - TIGES V POWER

I thought Mansell was pretty good for a 1st game - tough one to play first up, didn't look over whelmed. Martyn will learn a lot from that - slow decision making, run down from behind twice - I really think RCD should have played instead but we have to find out which of our youngsters are going to make it. Aarts ok in the last q but no good otherwise, Castagna did little and missed his chance to win the game. Balta fumbled all night - was very poor I reckon - that chest mark was a shocker - changed all the momentum in the third quarter. Just reckon his development has stalled a little. Pickett did some good stuff but is another who fumbles too much and misses too many targets - we do have to remember that he hasnt played that many games - can still improve!
To me the biggest issue is our centre square work - we were thrashed. And too many of the clearances were way too easy! I think Bolton has to be in there full time, he seems to get it out more than anyone else. I am not convinced Nank hits it to the best areas!

Martyn and Mansell just looked like a boys playing a mans game. Compare them to their 1st gamer Jones. Both nowhere close to senior footy.

Jones was a first round draft pick. Looked good but only had 58% disposal efficiency.

Pickett is an enigma. I think he injured at least 3 Port players and his first quarter was atrocious but he kept it simple after that and performed ok. But yeah he has a very poor kick. Misses a lot of targets.

Can get the ball, had 12 disposals but needs to adjust to the speed of the game, and it was high intensity. These youngsters need to be given a run of games before making judgement.

Didn't stop anyone bagging Egg last week and Martyns game was worse. Sorry but he is that far away from AFL footy. He was caught 2 times early and then still had zero awareness and got caught numerous times after that. Look at Ports debutant and compare. Not good enough and looks like another Ross

The stupid thing is there was another time when Nanks took a mark and I counted no less than 4 Port players in close vicinity making no effort to exit the area. Just be consistent you silly d!cks.

Im am so furious am beyond words..........we lost it i the end despite the reaming from the maggots.

Yes it was deliberate but it wasn’t a free kick.
a - was in goal square, b - was surrounded by us c - just took possession
smart play but there is no free I think on the spirit ams intention bit.

18.11 DELIBERATE RUSHED BEHINDS
18.11.1 Spirit and Intention
Players shall be encouraged to keep the football in play.
18.11.2 Free Kicks - Deliberate Rushed Behinds
A field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against a Player from the Defending Team who
intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the football over the Attacking Team’s Goal Line or Behind Line or onto one of the Attacking Team’s Goal Posts, and the Player:
(a) is greater than nine metres from the Goal Line or Behind Line;
(b) is not under immediate physical pressure;
(c) has had time and space to dispose of the football; or
(d) from a Ruck contest, hits the football over the Goal Line or Behind Line on the full.

The goal from Nanks kick and the downfield (70 odd metres) against Balta cost us in the end.
