Game Day Round 5 vs Crows

Just looked at AFL match report and they had Parker in the best, (and no not for Adelaide ;) ).

Not great when it is our old buggers that are best of a poor lot.

Richmond: Cotchin, Vlastuin, Prestia, Parker, Edwards
Someone is drunk at the AFL if they thought Parker had a good game.

Sonz should have played.

We are shocking when it comes to discipline. I was really disappointed in Parker. He isn't tackling or giving us enough pressure and he couldn't hit the side of a bus today.

Not sure Ross, Aarts, Parker should play next week but it's a big ask to blood a new player like Sonz.
Not sure discipline was an issue tonight JK with the free kicks.

Some home truths

Umpiring was bad, but we are an incredibly dumb side

Nankervis has been a *smile* ruckman this year

Tarrant is slow

Riewoldt is slow and oppo runs off him at every opportunity

Cotchin played well but can only bring it once a month

Ditto Edwards

Parker is VFL

Ross is VFL

Dow is timid in the contest

Aarts is VFL

We lack forward class

Lynch is dumb and slow

Graham is dumb, VFL

Balta has a future but is dumb

Hugo has a future but can’t kick

Overall we are unskilled. Our forward connection is the worst in the comp. Our work rate is terrible. Our discipline is terrible. Our tackling is terrible.

OUT: Riewoldt, Parker, Aarts, Ross, Miller

IN: Soldo, Sonsie, Lambert, Grimes, Stack

We're all frustrated, I get how you feel. Even though your words say everyone is dumb, has no talent, doesn't try hard enough, and doesn't work together... I get what you're trying to express. I feel ya.

Always try to remember nobody is at their most logical immediately after a frustrating loss. It's human nature to individualise to manage the frustration. Recognise it, and move on.

So disappointed in today’s effort.

We are clearly the better team based on that period of intent early in Q3 but instead of running on with it we threw it away with dumb footy and skill errors.

Too many hacks in the team atm

Soldo needs to play as tap ruckman and Riewoldt no longer has a place in this side

Parker Aarts Ross never to be seen again.

Dow on notice for being timid af

Ross Parker and Aarts should never be in the same Richmond team. Momentum killers all three

If you look at the way we tackle now versus 2-3 years ago, the intensity is not there. Too many handballs after an Adelaide player was tackled and while some tackles should have been rewarded some were just poor technique. That is the leading indicator to me that we are declining

Who else noticed Shai Bolton laugh at the umpire late in the game? Man of the people is Shai!

Just tuned in again now as I knew we were going to lose. Besides the typical flog hate of Richmond, how do we lose another lead??

The loss wasn't a surprise. Hostile crowd and the umps are pretty mediocre across the league now. I posted on Tuesday that Tex would kick 5.
Wasnt convinced by last week, the Bulldogs kicked poorly. Our win v GWS was a shocker.

It is what is is, hopefully we get a top 10 pick (ours), a low 2nd rounder from North and our 2nd rounder - these 3 picks in the top 25 need to be all pure mids, not HBF's or HFF's.

Its everything many of you have posted. The young uns havent the class of the aging warrirors. Dow will learn from this I think, but we are stuck with Ross, RCD, Parker, Aarts and others until the next 2 years of draftees come through.

What worries me more - and he's been worth every cent for the 2 flags, so would make the same decision 100 times out of 100 - is that we have a shitload of our cap tied up with Tommy (who looks shot) and have signed Graham and Flossy to LT deals. And Nank is trying too hard with the captaincy.

Interesting times ahead for the club.

We are staring down the barrel of a 2-4 start and a likely second straight year out of the finals. The last time that happened was a decade ago. We are likely to lose near 900 games of experience at seasons end (Riewoldt, Cotchin and Edwards) and our best and most influential player is not certainty to play again.

All this on top of rule changes that have undermined our unique game plan and the continual targeting of our fringe players by other clubs (5 alone playing in GCS vs St Kilda today!) has rendered us very average indeed.

I think we need to prepare ourselves for some difficult times…

Unless the umpiring gets better for us and/or we improve the way we play/tackle, we are gone. We tackle and never gain advantage of it.

That's just our level now. Last week was the aberration not this week. Great teams bring effort every week. We can't anymore.

Everyone is trying. We just have too many players either through age or talent that can't produce consistent football.

Other reality is Jack & Lynch can no longer play forward together. Opposition run off them - one or the other to partner Balta. If they want Balta to be a key forward then play him as one.

Yep , we have 14 best 22 players turning 29 or older next year...
The question over the next 4 or 5 years is not if we can win a flag but if we can avoid winning a spoon(or two)
On the bright side some top 2 or 3 picks coming our way over the next few years :D

Agree with your last two sentences.
