Game Day - rnd 16 vs Brions at the Gabba 2023

For a team that's never achieved anything, the carrying on of certain Lions players is embarrassing. And even if you are a world-beater, do it graciously. I hope they never win a f*****g thing.
They are climbing up my ladder for the most unlikeable team going around. I don’t think there’s another team at the moment with so many players that act like flogs. Daniher, Andrews, zorko( I know he didn’t play last night), neale to name the leadership group of flogs

I actually turned off in the 3rd quarter. I can handle losing, but what i can't handle is not trying. I thought we'd lose last night as we were too undermanned, but not like this. Up until last night we had been competitive in every game this year. But we just did not come to play. Very disappointing.

At one point in the second quarter Brisbane had 90% disposal efficiency. That tells me the pressure on our part was non-existent.

They have an extra hatred for us. that's why the celebrate more. probably due to the fact the we beat up on them for years. They seem to fire up against us more than any other team.

OK, beyond disappointing for sure, you never like to see a performance like that out of your team, but hey, simply putting it down as "one of those games", it happens unfortunately.

Only 3 players can hold their heads high tonight and you wouldn't need to be a Football pundit to pick those, expecting a totally different situation next week against the Swannies, a week can be a long time in Football.

This. It was a disgraceful performance from all but a handful of players. The vast majority did not have a crack.

Beautiful said BB.

Not only have they not won anything, they've been smashed in huge matches and the same blokes go missing in finals every time.

You'd never know it looking at the arrogance of them though.

30 less inside 50’s
Yeah our scoring actually wasn't terrible considering.

They had 68 inside 50's for 34 scoring shots (50%).
We had 38 inside 50's for 18 scoring shots (47%)

Problem was, losing so many centre bounces gave them so much field position and because we had no-one that seemed capable of taking a mark, we just couldn't regain any control of field position. Getting smashed in the middle was issue number 1, and not being able to control the ball with any marks was issue number 2.

Dunstall gave that tall streak no.30 a real blast for him getting in to Balta’s face when Daniher marks. Very strong about it

With the terrible record of the teams coming off the bye round it’s time to make the bye round a whole week off for all teams.

Surely every team will be pushing for change here. Even if they want to keep the staggered bye rounds, how hard is it to make the teams that have just had a bye play other teams that were on a bye. Surely its not rocket science to deal with this.

I just read this, I think Auld is saying the elongated bye rounds are staying:

Yep. A few blokes tried, but a lot did not. It was very evident in the first 5 minutes that we had every man and his dog wanting to run forward of the ball and do all the attacking or "chaos" stuff, but we had very few who were prepared to run back hard the other way, put their head over it or apply pressure when opposition had the ball.

This has happened a few times this year ie. where we start off all attacking like, but really don't bring much pressure.

No pressure = no Richmond for mine. We don't have the talent-skill level to do things pretty or on the bit (to use a racing term.)

Couldn't watch anymore than half way through the 2nd quarter, a very poor performance. I'm hoping it was because......a lot of the players were coming down with Dusty's ailment.

Sydney are also a team of ’flogs’

Watching so many other defenders do it, why can't Vloss and Broad mark in defence and run out as Balta does????

Despite the result, I stayed to the end to clap the boys off the ground. Mainly Cotch and Jack as it could be the last time I clap them off the ground. I did notice that both Cotch and Jack were the last to walk off and they walked off together with arms around each other. The Gabba would have meant a lot to them because of 2020. I saw this as a sign that both are definitely hanging them up this year.
