Game Day - rnd 16 vs Brions at the Gabba 2023

Agree DS.

They are scooters but I see them as a bike , not push bike of sorts.

To me they are a poor man’s motorbike.

You look at most of the people on them, no helmets, speeds they go on footpaths, sometimes roads,.. and I would guess quite a few would be guys who have lost their licences, for speed, drink, drugs and use them as a form of transport without much restrictions.

Am I generalising? Maybe. Maybe not.

Hate them.

My main problem with them is an engineering limitation.

The original intention of the scooters design was never to travel at high speeds.

They have tiny little wheels, meaning they can lock up easily on a turn, so handing is an issue. Braking also happens way below the centre of mass, meaning of you stop quickly at speed, it's almost impossible not to come off over the top.

They should be limited to whatever speed allows them to have a safe stopping distance. I know on my pushy, I can lock up the wheels and come to a dead stop in a couple of metres from going about 30 kmh, while staying in control. No way you can do that on the scooter.

Just heard some distressing news on tv.
A Victorian man died last night on a Brisbane street after coming off an E scooter and hitting head on gutter.
Was believed to be a Richmond supporter up for the game.
Just terrible.
unfortunately the report was correct, those of you who travel interstate regularly or are a 3121 Member you will have known or at least seen him.

A wonderful bloke and as mad a Tiger as you will meet.

RIP Kev

I cycle to work every day and although I wouldn't say I hate them, they can be a right pain. Could be ok but for the morons who seem to choose these as a form of transport. I suspect you are right about a fair number riding those things because they have lost their licences. On the other hand, there would be a fair few who ride them because of the traffic.

I do hate the way they just park them across a footpath or bike path, many of the people riding those things think they are the only person on the planet who matters.

This makes a lot of sense.

How you don't flip over the top on a sudden break seems tough.

So true.
They litter them like rubbish.

Scattered. Just left where their money runs out.

Saw one the other night that one considerate prick left almost blocking a pedestrian crossing in front of one of the hospitals. I saw it and thought to myself ffs, couldn’t they have moved it a metre or 2 to the left so it’s out of the way. Anyway, I did the right thing and picked it up and threw next to the bushes

I haven't made my mind up about this game. OTOH it was a massacre of the midfield 68/38 I50. OTO we were *smile* everywhere.

While I don't necessarily buy the flu thing we looked flat to me. Lazy, lead-legged. All that stuff.

We'll have a better idea this week. As it stands Richmond was destroyed by Brisbane.
