GAME DAY – R14 Tiges v Blues

A lot of complaining this morning.

Some calling saying they are not Carlton supporters but getting ‘hot under the collar’ about the touched behinds, Lynch & Shai.

Got home at midnight. THURSDAY NIGHT games suck!!!! AFL needs to listen to the fans, it's not what we want and the attendance would've been 75-80K on a Sat or Sun.
But, but, Gil says the fans love Thursday night games and there will be more of them next season???

Absolute plonker he is. Can't wait to see the back of him.

This is the standard response these days. The non Richmond footy community narrative is that we are the AFL darlings who fluked a few flags and we get looked after at the tribunal and the evidence of that is that Cotchin played in the 2017 grand final and Lynch got away with murder in 2020.

We are now close to the most hated team in the AFL, the team others love to see lose. It takes me back to my youth and is a beautiful thing ....

Now Voss is having a b!tch about the goal review. Wonder if the media will hound him all week and call him a whinger like they do with Dimma when he has the temerity to question everything? Guess not.

It seems it is open season for every club in the AFL to make complaints about the system and get away with it; except for Richmond.

Bevo does it weekly and gets lauded for his "honesty".

Bloody umpires. Mob of *smile* sHockings. Now they’re ripping us supporters off. They’re trying to take our enjoyment of complaining about the free kick differential off us.
Bloody afl and BScott will stop at nothing to muzzle us, but I’m a wake-up to their little ploys.
Its just a temporary act from them
Free kick count
Us 20 them 17.

It still blows my mind that people are questioning this.

It was clearly touched.

Clearly.

There are so many other more contentious things in a game than that.

Really poor form by Voss, who also knows it was obviously touched, but chose to be salty about it instead.

Chris Scott level.

Now callers are questioning the integrity of Broad.

Saying that ‘his moving his fingers before the ball is touched’.

Apparently it’s something we are teaching this!

Can anyone tell me what’s the rule when the ‘football hits the goal umpire in play’?

Is it play on?
A goal?

It was paid as a behind…

Thursday night in winter in Victoria should be off the table. March, maybe even April, fine. Hard to believe how tone-deaf the AFL really is to its fans. They then ask what can be done to boost attendances, the fans give their view, then the league does as they want anyway.

Get it's a television product as much as its ever been, but I'm not sure they can have it both ways. It's a beast they created when they began running live games uninterrupted, siren to siren on TV.

He was over the line in the field of play when the ball hit him.
I always thought it was “play on”

i didn’t read that as a whinge by Voss but anyway, if it makes him feel better let the goal be awarded and we only won by 10 points.

Gee footy is in great hands with our media , only 2 things reported about last nights game, Shai showing the ball and Broadys “ debatable “ touch , then there’s the *smile* idiots saying Lynch deliberately gouged Saad
It seems as though the media never really let Richmond simply enjoy a victory. Reminds of earlier in the year when they highlighted a dodgy 50 that Prestia got for faking a handball despite players from every other team doing it in the previous 3-4 weeks.

Wow, what incredible presence of mind by Broad to do that. Amazing

That's not how fingers work.

Its remarkable how people get it into their heads that players have time to think before doing these acts. Its not like he has an age to think, should I wiggle my fingers etc, it was a split second thing all he'll do is put his hands in the way. Just ridiculous how people come up with things like this, without thinking about the time required.

This mornings media/caller frenzy is not just Richmond directed, it’s the state of modern day media. Let’s sensationalise anything and everything.

One aspect that pissed me off, was the number of easy goals they got “out the back” of a contest in their forward line
We needed someone on the defensive side of the contest. Too often they had a player free who just swooped in for an easy goal

One thing I learnt was MJR needs to play.
The pressure in our forward line went up a notch when he came on

Not worried. Reminds me of 2019. We weren't looking great during the year with weaknesses in our game. But Dimma kept working on them bit by bit, tweaking and changing things up so that come September we were unstoppable.

Last night we saw our clearance work step up a notch.

Might book my flight tickets for September.
