GAME DAY !!!! Premiers v Pensioners

Momentum in todays game is King. Like the Dees and tonight with the Cats we have gifted the momentum and dont have the hunger/bodies to claw it back. Ross mistake was the one tonight and was also one with the Dees but cant remember it.

Destroyed in the ruck again...doesn't help
12 stoppage clearances to 27. Absolutely thrashed. I remember at least 4 times Nanks tapping it straight down opponents throat. Thought he had a poor game.

Fair points but my concern is that unlike other years our last 2 losses have come after we have thrown everything at the opposition and then theyve steadied and steamrolled us. In other years we just didnt play well and when we did bring the pressure NO ONE steadied and spanked us. Worrying signs this year. Im just hoping the drop off isnt a quick and ugly one.

I thought this in 2019, that the drop off was occurring.

IIRC we were 7-6 at one stage that season, and there were some bloody poor losses in those 6. Both Adelaide and North drubbed us.

It didn't look good to me, I figured we had been worked out.

I am not as worried now as I was back then. Maybe a couple of extra flags helps, but I figure we have a form line to work through our current issues.

Maybe I am an optimist, but I do believe we will be in the mix at the business end of the season.

Funnily enough, after what I saw tonight and what was on show in the Melbourne game, the team I am most worried about in the finals is Brisbane.

We looked gassed and undersized.

Fumbles and tackles being broken left, right and centre signs of fatigue for me.

We'd had 4 six-day breaks in 5 weeks coming into last week, then had a massive effort game. And as TBR says, we're just nowhere near peak fitness. That and our outs and we copped a flogging, but we've seen that before.

I don't want to be a complete Pollyanna. The ability of their three big forwards to separate our backs was a worry. Rohan looked like Josh J. Kennedy.

They set up a wall across D50 and we just couldn't penetrate it. We desperately need a third marking target, but ideally a mobile one. Do we have one of those not named Marbior? (No.) Caddy?

Learning opportunity.

3 goals from basic dropped marks this quarter. Reall don’t like the way teams have been able to get a hold of us and tear us to shreds this year. This is the 3rd time in 8 games. Very concerning signs.
All good Riddles ....... Simply put, "Just one of those games", roll the eyes, get a little pissed off with a few and move on, early MAY, nothing to serious to be concerned about yet. ;)

It has been a similar pattern though for the last 3 years.

We just have to believe that we will click in to gear like previous years.
Disagree. Maybe 2019 although we were 5-3 after 8. (6-3 after 9). Other years we didn't have such large losing margins. Last year largest loss was 32 points. We've already had 3 bigger losses this year. I think this is the last year of our premiership window and it's not looking promising atm.

It’s been a long time since a Richmond team just gave up, but they did after the halfway mark of the third quarter. Dropped marks, horrendous kicking mistakes, Geelong kick a few arse goals & our guys tossed it in. So disappointing. Team needs a refresh & reset. Play a proper second ruck. Mansell can make way for another kid & I’d be inclined to drop Castagna & Ross for a start of the more seasoned players. Lynch was so poor tonight - rubber hands & stopped moving. He’s either injured or out of confidence. Hardwick must also look at a man on man game plan against teams that want to play keepings off. Plus we need an injection of leg speed.

Lynch, Castagna, Marlion and Jack had 8 kicks COMBINED.

EIGHT!

Posters blaming RCD, Ross and Mansell. Have a look at our senior players that just didn't turn up tonight
Pickett did have 13 disposals (more than 12 others) and 6 tackles. The others were very poor.

Fatigue could be the signs, but definitely need CCJ in attack and ruck. Time to start him or what are we wasting time for?

Didn't find much to smile about after Q time tonight, but re-reading this thread has bought a smile to the dial, let me tell you, some of the 180's are legendary by certain peeps, very funny stuff. :rotfl2

The concern for me is we’ve had “just one of those games” 3 times in the first 8 games of the season; all at what used to be our fortress and all against current top 4 sides.

We have had too many unRichmond like performances this year. Plus our 4-4 record is the worst we’ve had after 8 games in any recent season. We’re off the boil more so than any of the past two seasons; it’s early days but I reckon we are well away from where we’d want to be..

Two games v Dudbourne and Geethrow we’ve been ok for half a game. Ok ...after that no good but we’ve still got the capability. Its still there.

1. Desperately need some regular hands back on deck. Our depth is poor and we can’t cover this level of injuries especially Grimes. Knew we’d have probs in the midfield that would translate down back with him out.

2. we’ve gotta mix up that fwd line and the movement into it. Yet again, looked to Lynch every time. So predictable. Need a 3rd option be it Caddy or whoever or a change of roles for one or two guys and/or move George or Rioli out. They’re chronically out of form.

3. Just win 3 out of the next 4 (achievable) get players back, and go from there.

Geethrow do this time and time again: lose a few, get written off, beat a string of sides they should, re-set and before you know it they’re back contending. We have to do the same.

Without injuries, still think we can get hold of a Dudbourne or Geethrow in the finals.

Dimm has to go full Malcom Blight and give these losers a spray.
I did it many years ago when I was coach. Half time we were 10 goals down.
Took the players over to the boundary so everyone could hear and ripped into each player. Gave out some classics
“I bet if that was a meat pie you would have marked it you fat *smile*!”
“Your mother should have swallowed instead of opening her legs. One less problem for me today”
“You are more useless then tits on a bull you dopey bastard!”

team went out and we won that game by 4 goals.
Unfortunately I never coached the under 10’s again.
