Spot on! Key to playing Collingwood will be to bring pressure. Can’t do that with a slow forward line.
A few scattered thoughts while they are fresh on the way home.

Any win is a good win, especially interstate. Balta was superb, Hopper huge, Taranto, Rioli and Baker all good. Ryan showed some promise.

My worry is our forward structure and our ball use through the midfield. Adelaide is a developing team but they were able to slice us on transition time and again because our defensive pressure is poor.

Lynch, Riewoldt, Sampson, Bolton and Martin up front put it all on Rioli Jnr to apply pressure. I'm interested if it has been reported why Dustin was subbed, I wonder if it was because they lost patience with him and Bolton not doing enough. If so it would be a huge line in the sand.

Next week will answer a lot of questions for me, Collingwood are probably the best on transition right now so it will be the ultimate test for our set-up. It will want be a lot better than today, I don't know what we scored from turnover today but I doubt we will get half next week.

Also, what a great display from the umpires and I'm being absolutely genuine there. Really well umpired game.

We need speed, speed and more speed. Good to get the win, but we look old and slow - and will struggle to make the 8 unless we inject youth and speed into the side.

That's a classic Richmond 2017-2020 game

Dominant defence, fast turnover scoring, and after we broke clear we chose to conserve energy while letting our opponents punch air into exhaustion... then we put the foot down at the end to win by 5 goals.

Very, very ominous signs!

That pattern is how we've always played when at our best.

Also, our defence is #1 in the league right now for scores conceded.

But it wasn’t like this.

Adelaide burned goals and got a heap of good looks. Spilled easy marks too.

Today was not a good defensive display at all save Balta.

It was good to steady and bank the four points. We need to get some more speed into the side. Lynch, Jack, Dusty, Sampson, Graham and Shai all forward is too slow when the ball hits the ground.

We have got to get games into the likes of Juddy, Sonsie, Cumbo and Hugo. Especially against Collingwood with their extreme fitness and running power. Maybe even start Mansell in a defensive job on Nick Daicos. He absolutely slaughtered Port today off half back.

Prestia looks like he NQR had a quiet game
Looked he he wasn’t able to raise his arms to tackle
Is he carrying an injury?

For me a very positive game,32 point win in Adelaide, no side in afl wouldn't accept that.
We showed we can really move the ball quickly still and are testing to see our best mix with several.young stars in the vfl.
Like everyone really want Cumberland, sonsie,Clarke in the side.i would rotate Cumberland from wing to half forward with sonsie rotating the other wing with pickett.

Fox Footy saying we subbed Dustin as a precaution because of a 6 day break.

So we subbed perhaps the best one on one player the game has ever seen, when we were 1 point ahead with 10 mins to go, after blowing a 40 point lead, staring at being 0-2 with the form team of the comp next week, just in case?

That's either incredibly brave coaching or *smile*.

Looks like 3 weeks for Broad. Brain fade tackle....seriously wish some of these players would wake up.

Just saw the replay, couldn't complain about 3 weeks, that's about as bad as a sling tackle gets.

Did some serious damage to the Adelaide player as well.
Ill be shattered if he gets more than one to be honest, no way it was anything like the 2 incidents last week and therefore not deserving of those penalties. Sling tackle yes, but a football play all the same, take a week and move on.

I reckon you're going to be shattered. They've just got to learn not to make second moves in a tackle, it's ok to just wrap them up, no need to take them to ground.

In fact in that instance holding him up is a better way to get a free kick because it makes it obvious if he is trying to dispose of the ball. If you take them down it is easier to fake it.
