last year we probably would have lost that game - pleasing to see we fought back and ran away with it

Crow,s worn out after last week ,so we won ....lucky
Go into the piez game with the same squad and we go down by 15 goals...

The positive of the first two weeks is Taranto & Hopper with Prestia give us clearance advantage for the first time in this era. Just need to add speed on the outside & forward.

Unbeaten after 2 albeit a draw in there. We looked ominous at times then witches hats at others.

Looks like Broad will have a spell & interesting to see what’s wrong with Martin & hopefully Hopper pulls up well.

A thing to remember is teams like the crows young & fit after pre seasons normally start the season well then fade away ! Wins like this on the road early are huge.

I’m glad dimma decided to wake the pensioners up at 3 quarter time. Could you hear them snoring from the stands?

Turning point when Mansell came on Crows shocked he got another game
Hmm, will download and see what this looks like, but listening on the radio heard way too many entries inside 50 which went straight to the opposition.

Third quarter was a mess.

Sounds like we were way too slow.

A reasonable finish in the end but it should never have got that close.

One thing I will say, I was watching the timeline on the AFL website and it is an absolute joke. The time ticks on but it looks like there have been no scores. You refresh the page and, lo and behold, 5 goals have been kicked. Pathetic.

On to next week, which I may end up watching on TV given my away membership won't get me in. Can't see us matching Collingwood, they are very good, as they should be with McRae as coach. We always knew our assistants would go and get jobs at other clubs and it looks like at least 1 is doing a great job. Such is life, that's what happens when you win multiple flags.

DS
Jack and Bolton were poor today. Balta very good and our two debutants did well enough and won’t be dropped.

Jack has lost his run. It is not inconceivable that he could be rested against Collingwood.
Balta, Baker, Prestia, were very good all day.

We won … it could very easily have been much much worse.

Bank the 4 points and move on.

But we have issues.

Need a bit of youth injected into the side, running youth, not the tall timber version.

Sonsie and Judson need to be injected somehow. Cumbo too.

Your move MC. Earn your pay.

Mozza needs to wake up otherwise he'll be out. Been useless for these 2 games. Running around in circles.

Unconvinced.

Selection committee has some work to do.

Too slow across the ground. Jack R is an absolute defensive liability now.

Cumbo should replace him but that won’t happen because Dimma is loyal to his old guard.

We will lose handily to Collingwood if we go in with the same structure.
Same. Not convinced.

Our team selection is exacerbating an aged list that’s struggling to cover the ground, particularly on defensive transition.

We at least need to add Clarke to this side, somehow, some way.

That terrible 3rd qtr was a blessing in disguise, we got ahead of ourselves and stopped doing the fundamentals and the pressure dropped off.
Very good last quarter. Shai Bolton terrific. Hopper, Graham, and Balta outstanding. Baker, Vlustuin, Pickett, and Short also did well in the last.
Clutch goals in the last by Samson Ryan and Lynch were a sigh of relief after jack missed a couple of sodas.

A few scattered thoughts while they are fresh on the way home.

Any win is a good win, especially interstate. Balta was superb, Hopper huge, Taranto, Rioli and Baker all good. Ryan showed some promise.

My worry is our forward structure and our ball use through the midfield. Adelaide is a developing team but they were able to slice us on transition time and again because our defensive pressure is poor.

Lynch, Riewoldt, Sampson, Bolton and Martin up front put it all on Rioli Jnr to apply pressure. I'm interested if it has been reported why Dustin was subbed, I wonder if it was because they lost patience with him and Bolton not doing enough. If so it would be a huge line in the sand.

Next week will answer a lot of questions for me, Collingwood are probably the best on transition right now so it will be the ultimate test for our set-up. It will want be a lot better than today, I don't know what we scored from turnover today but I doubt we will get half next week.

Also, what a great display from the umpires and I'm being absolutely genuine there. Really well umpired game.

God this site is always concentrating on the negative. First half and last quarter were massive but not good enough for nay sayers here. ALL I see is "too old" "too slow" "Pies will smash us" etc. Certainy did not look like that for 3/4's. Its the second game so give it a rest.. Stop knocking 3 time premiership hero's FFS. They are forever loved so show some of the love..... End of rant.

That's a classic Richmond 2017-2020 game

Dominant defence, fast turnover scoring, and after we broke clear we chose to conserve energy while letting our opponents punch air into exhaustion... then we put the foot down at the end to win by 5 goals.

Very, very ominous signs!

That pattern is how we've always played when at our best.

Also, our defence is #1 in the league right now for scores conceded.

Already there are articles written demanding Broad get more than McCadam saying it was a horror act etc. So its starting already that he press decide how many weeks a Tiger player should get.... No doubt Whatley and Blobbo will be all over how disgusting the tackle was... God I hate the press.
