Footy to Return

Virgin haven’t made a profit for 9 years ( fact )
31% of Domestic travel in Australia is by non Australian citizens eg overseas travellers flying between major cities etc
There is no requirement for 2 domestic airlines in Australia for the next 12 months due no overseas travellers being banned etc
Impossible to trade themselves out of this mess with extremely high rental of terminals and aircraft
I was just making a point that the 400 seats that may be available to Virgin staff for the GF will still be going to the Virgin staff (if that’s what they get).
So forgive me if I don’t take you to task on the nitty gritty on the position of Virgin, it’s just that this isnt my intent, nor is this the right thread for that.

footy players owe us nothing. WW2 was was about 80 years ago now. Times have changed. There are so many industries around with people losing income, why is it up to footy players to play a contact sport to help people in there industry.
Very selfish attitude in my opinion.
*smile*,weak as *smile*,a couple of weeks away from home, big *smile* deal, made of tissue paper buddy, help.out their own industry thus creating more funds for their own family.

There's so many industry affected by this. I don't understand why out of all of these industries AFL footballers are expected to keep going in what will be a **** version of the season.
Plenty of industries are still going. Any industry that can keep going is still going, along with several industries that shouldn't be but have to. So to your question - why should the AFL keep going? Well, simply put, if they can they should because it's thousands of jobs and potentially the very survival of the professional game on the line. A *smile* version of the season? Maybe, but that's true of many businesses right now. We're not running at 100% but if the option is to not run at all and the business collapse, then we need to do as much as we can while staying safe.

Heard Clangerfield speak on SEN this morning. He didn't seem confident a return would be any time soon.

He's more than welcome to sit out if he prefers to stay home. But if he does he must be stood down on zero pay which may change his heart somewhat

Not a fan of the Hub lot but do suggest a shortened season of 8 games plus finals could be achieved in a Round Robin format if interstate travel restrictions are lifted come 01 July. Two Conferences would be required with the top four of their Conference to play in the finals. One Conference would be WCE, Freo, Port, Crows plus five allocated Victorian clubs. The other Lions, Gold Coast, Swans,GWS, plus five allocated Victorian clubs. Rules same that was applied for 2019 season. Brownlow cancelled unless Brownlow family would like it to be awarded for 2020. As for finals play off Team ranking 1-8 would be determined by most points & % of the combined two conferences. With the current Covid - 19 situ improving daily I would prefer the above than a mish mash of Hubs , five day turn arounds ,16 minute quarters & a eight man interchange bench.

interview with Tofu Crutons, AFL Head of Indoor Plant Placement on Mad as Hell tonight, says footy will be back with social distancing. Disgrace the AFL still have a head of Indoor Plant Placement IMO

The Zip Book is open.

Week 1 30/1
Week 2 20/1
Week 3 10/1
Week 4 5/4 favourite

*these are the current odds currently of the 'time frame' when the supporters will give up watching
No Crowd football.

***These are Not the odds of watching your own team but other teams.

I reckon its getting to the point where people even the most fervent footy tragic's are not fussed so much about footy returning, especially when its not likely to be the real deal, no fans no passion, and a token construct.

The broadcasters the Commissars and the sports media are the ones pushing it and trying to foist any ype of BS token season they can to get the $$.

What worries me most tbh, is the changes they will bring in to run this so called season will impact upon the players and the game into next season especially if the play through to November, thus assisting the AFL to force other changes into the game next year, shorter games shorter breaks less players all that *smile*.

Never let a crisis go to waste when you can use it to push your agenda under the excuse of other causes.

I'm sceptical and if it is going to ruin the game I love or impact it in an unfavourable way for the future from next year on then I'm not interested and would much rather the season be laid to waste ........which it pretty much already will be..

I think that's complete bollocks. I will be super pissed off if it doesn't come back. I think most people want to watch the footy regardless of crowds - It make F-all difference to me when I'm watching on TV, I watching the game not the crowd. It's entirely doable and there's 18 clubs and thousands of people who make a living of it. The revenue will save clubs. As for the paranoid fear, well, feel free to worry yourself about such things but it's entirely in your head.

Yeah, I never knew until this that some people seem to watch the game to look at the crowd.

In my head I don't think so, but we shall see.

Any faux attempts to run a competition of sorts will quite possibly involve changes to the game to enable more games to be played per week , which I believe wont be easily changed back going forward as they will be beta tested for shorter games shorter breaks and more games per week in order to "even up the season" and of course increase TV revenue.

I simply do not trust them.
