Footy to Return

No issue. It happens all over the world. Players and their families should be expected to adjust and with the help of friends and family members, can do so easily.
Two blocks of 8 weeks possibly only one, in the whole scheme of things, is a minor inconvenience.

Been back 4 weeks
Might have to take another 10 year holiday

Stig you missed a roller coaster decade on PRE. But there are other footy forums in which you could feel more comfortable.
Super destroyed: you might be pleasantly surprised if you take a look at your balance. To end March great majority of funds are down 10-15% .. They would better placed today. But there is a very good case to say markets will trend down or even crash again... so you should act accordingly if that is your view.
My super has been "destroyed" 4 times in my working life and I am still too young to retire. If you are under 40 be ready for 2 or 3 crashes before you retire. But also look forward to many years your fund earns 10 20 even 30%.
Footy is a game but it doesn't have to stand in a queue behind more admirable pursuits before it resumes. If the world was truly fair the best nurse in Australia would be earning more than DMartin. The Dusts of the world will back earning their living long before the local cAfe can re open, and footy clubs will be re employing a good proportion of its staff whilst Flight Centre staff seek help from the Salvos. That isn't fair but putting footy to the back of an imaginary queue won't reopen the cafe or open the world to international travel one minute sooner.

I suspect he is right.

Can we really have a Grand Final with no crowd? I would have to say we can't and if there is no prospect of a crowd then 2020 is a write off.

As for overseas travel, try 2022 unless we get a vaccine and are able to vaccinate most of the world.

DS
There are a lot of things we can't have .. But can have in a modified form. I'm looking at H&A game we won in. A *smile* season and still getting worked up over umpiring decisions and enjoying the skills

we are asking, as a country and society for many people not to work to protect against this virus- with the expectation that Australia will support the lost money and mortgages.
But if you are a footballer they should work or suffer the consequences?
Nah its bullcrap. One in all in and we support any and all not working *
*Except for financial dividends to shareholders and govt subsidies to staff eg crown. Its govt support not a payment
First, there's plenty of people working - it's not like we've al downed tools. People are finding ways to do their jobs - anything that can be done to safely get people working is being done. So in this case, we have a method that will achieve getting hundreds and even thousands of people working safely. Why wouldn't we look at it?
"But if you are a footballer they should work or suffer the consequences?" what consequences? Making a shed load of money for kicking a footy around, and to do it you need to work away from home for a couple of months? Give me a ****** break.

Big rumour.
Is the AFL is speaking to NASA to see if we could move the games to the moon.
Shhh

Let's see what happens over the next month. As the rate of infections comes right down we'll see restrictions eased.

I think the Hub idea is ridiculous, but the AFL is desperate.

Either find some way of playing home & away games or give it away for this year.

And ww2 many men were forced to go to war,if u can't do such a small tiny thing as staying away from family for a month in order to help many others get some income, then your a out of touch big big income earner whom doesn't understand players like marlion, and many on much lower incomes on bottom 5 of list incomes, for them it's a I must must play as I'm not on half a million,I'm on a fraction of that, many friends I know work 4-6 weeks away from home as it's their chance of a decent income, now all players must give back in order for many to prosper.

footy players owe us nothing. WW2 was was about 80 years ago now. Times have changed. There are so many industries around with people losing income, why is it up to footy players to play a contact sport to help people in there industry.
Very selfish attitude in my opinion.

I don't understand what you're getting at. It's not 'up to' the players to work for a living if they can, it's an opportunity. If there's some that are so comfortable they don't need the money, then don't make them play, no problem. But nearly all players and people employed within the sport DO need the money. If there's a way for them to safely work, why not? Being away for a couple of months is unfotunate, but shouldn't be a big deal.

How are the AFL and the NRL going to get around the social distancing rules.. Apparently Scomo is going to have a look at easing some restrictions in 4 weeks but lifting the distancing rules doesn't seem to be on the table. Could imagine umpires like Razor giving 200 are kicks a game for breeches

".. it will be a real boost if we can get footy going again, but it's got to be done safely" - Daniel Andrews

They've been talking with the AFL. I reckon the green tick is coming soon hence next week's announcement..
