I have not been critical of TW and truly believed he was going to take us places. Even after the Carlton game this year I thought we would come good and TW would be still coaching in 2010. I accepted his spin every week as a necessity to keep the media at bay and assumed that behind closed doors TW had his head screwed on right. I thought he had been unlucky in the draft and that Miller was largely to blame. I thought that he didn't have enough support in developement and that the players were largely to blame for lack of skill, mental toughness and their inability to execute a game plan.

Last night was a shock to me and the penny finally dropped. I felt personally let down to watch the man I had supported as our coach cut us loose on national TV. Wallace did not display anything to suggest that he gives a stuff about the RFC and he is obviously motivated by self interest. I feel for the players having to swallow the shallow message a man like that must have been selling for the last 4 1/2 years.

:clap

I am over what I saw last night, a self-centred man... I was very annoyed that he cleaned out his office the day prior to the game, and not wearing any RFC colours on national TV!... TW really shouldn't be at the game tonight! <insert profanity here>!

What hurt the most about last night's interview is that TW did not STAND UP for our captain Chris Newman..

Newman would be hard done by in this case... He will forever be tarnished as the man who told TW to ''resign'' when this never happened!!!!!!

TW did not have to go into full details about the conversation they had, but at least he could've confirmed the above.

Self absorbed Prick!

Didn't he say after the Bulldogs fiasco that he was going to take the emotion out of football ?

I will have to search the net, could have sworn he said something like that anyway...

Didnt see the interview, but by the sounds of it, if Newman "will forever be tarnished as the man who told TW to ''resign'' when this never happened"
I think he should hold his head up high.

What gets me is he was blaming our resources when he claim to the club & using it as an excuse. He didn't have to come to our club & would have known how many assistants etc that he would have been given.

I still have a problem that RFC seems to have made a blind commitment to appear stable over the last 5 years and have possibly dropped the ball in being ruthlessly committed to being the best onfield.

I've harped on about this for a while. As you said we've made a blind commitment to stability and as a result appointed and held onto both Frawley and Wallace for 2 years too long in both cases. We need to toughen up and stop being gun shy in making the tough but necessary decisions. it was plainly obvious that Wallace was taking us nowhere 2 years ago when he won us the spoon while playing his most experienced players, had no coherent game plan and totally neglected the draft by only using 2 picks on kids.

Yeah, but maybe those 10 years were the penance we had to pay for earlier instability. Now we can afford to be more ruthless in the court of public opinion.

*smile* public opinion - I don't want the RFC to be liked by anybody else than us Tigers supporters - time to be tough ruthless and downright aggressive - we were like that in the late '60s and early '70s and we won 4 premierships in 8 seasons.

Answer this - are the Hawks of 2009 liked by anybody else than their supporters - that's right time for us to be the same.........*smile* 'em all I say....Time to be Tigers again and rule the AFL Jungle..........

Terry's interview was all we have come to expect from him over the journey. Doesn't answer questions, doesn;t take responsibility and all the while gives the impression that he is the most important person/thing in the entire saga.

Terry Wallace....all care, no responsibility. :spin

It's not about being liked. It's about being perceived as a professional organisation able to treat it's employees accordingly. It's the only way to attract the best talent (coaches, off-field support staff, etc).

Money and success attract the right people - and you have to be daring ruthless and aggressive to get success and to earn the revenue that is required - perception of success and money is all that counts in any commercial organisation - the rest is window dressing..........

I watched the interview last night and totally agree with most of the posts on this thread.
What really surprised me was his reply to Sam about the recruiting during his time as coach.
He basically said that he left recruiting decisions with those who were in charge to do so (i.e. Miller).
Come on Terry.....If that is the case then you have not done your job as coach in my opinion. How can you not take a keen interest in future players whilst under your 5 year contract? Why wouldn't you be doing your due dilligence and making sure the RFC were getting the best players available?
He then went on and spoke about his time at the bulldogs and the players recruited in his time there.
Just more spin Terry. That was over seven years ago.
I can now see why the reported "quit"meeting between Newman and Wallace took place.

Reckon you'll get money and success without good personnel to start with? And you reckon you'll get those good personnel looking like an unstable basket case management-wise?

Yes - it gets done every year in the business world - people see a chance to make money and be successful they will jump at it - they do not give a rats about professionalism or political correctness - all they see is the opportunity to be successful and the money that comes from that.

Strewth I am starting to sound like Liverpool - I better have a bex and a good lay down........

LOL, what's in bex anyway? Is it still legal??

Agree it was a totally pointless interview. Sam asked the right questions, Wallace just refused to give an answer unless he could lay the blame somewhere else.

Referring back to the KB and Frawley eras smacked of desparation and stupidity - if it was so bad why take the job on?

His dribble about the Bulldogs situation summed him up perfectly - an egotistical, self-centred individual.

However, Sam was right, karma exists.

In 10 years he will be referred to as a coaching nobody who had a dreadful winning percentage and never won a flag. In the meantime, his so-called "contemporaries" in Sheedy, Malthouse, Pagan, etc who TW loves to be classed with will be sipping a few glasses of red laughing at the one of the biggest charlatans to enter the AFL coaching ranks.
