Footy Show

Crutchy reckons Laidley could be gone by Round 16 and the NM prez is two seats away.

If Laidley's sacked let's hope he doesn't come knocking on our door all of a sudden.

Did he mention his corporate experience again? Push his CV across the desk to Sam?

mentioned the long long hours he used to work in the media (when trying to dodge the Swans question), and also indicated he wanted to stay in footy - but nothing locked in with GC as rumoured.

The recruiting thing he tried to wheel out again, "if I 'have' to take responsibility for the Richmond recruiting, then give me credit for the dogs"

BUT, earlier he said that when he went to the RFC they didn't have a recruitment department/manager... but the dogs had Scott Clayton, whilst he was at the dogs.

So, he must take the blame/credit for the first 2-3 years of recruiting at Richmond, as it was he (+ Miller) that picked skinny flankers/midfielders in his first draft(s)... instead of at least one of, as an example, Franklin or Roughead.

I've never seen anyone look so uncomfortable in a interview like TW did tonight especially regarding the swans/bulldogs saga. And he still refused to answer the Chris Newman question.

Doesnt worry me but gee, he looked like a rabbit caught in headlights there for a while. As for his comment about just wanting to get tomorrow night out of the way - well that just about summed it up for me.

:wave TW. Dont let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

He was never one of us, just a money hungry bastard. Tom Hafey has more yellow and black in his little toe than this joker.

Sailor's leg's, you done well. :spin :spin

Roughhead is a solid player for the Hawks.....

I think he would be on the chopping block or already delisted if he had been drafted for the tigers.

Tambling may even have become a star for the Hawks, they have developed their talent far better than Richmond.

What rubbish. Roughhead is a classy player, always was. Delisted? Some players need more direction than others. Roughhead has always seemed like a very level head and I am sure he would have been very successful at the Tigers (in fact imagine how our forward line would be straightened up if we had him).

Well, to me Wallace came off mega bad. Dodged around most questions and failed to take any responsibility for results with Richmond.

What was all that 20 year *smile* about KB and stuff all about?

Garbage Wallace.

Agree ... that was really poor. Sad

not happy that he squibbed it on:

4) left Chris Newman 100% hanging out to dry

The proper interview technique is to listen to the answer and then follow up:

OK Terry, if the conversation between you and Newman was private and you won't discuss it here, then how come it was in all the press? Did you leak it to the press directly or via a "friend"?

That's right, we were always going to take Lids and most thought, whoever the Hawks left out of Roughy or Buddy... we took Bling!

Terry has work for Fox during the under 18's carnival and 'rated' Tambling, after watching him dominate (Division 2) whilst playing for the NT side.

TW had plenty to do with the 2004 draft... Lids, Bling, Meyer, Patto & Polo, the first 3 had TW's drafting DNA all over them!

Mate, from what I have been told by someone else in the media, the leak was indeed TW

i thought that too.
Going back 20 years....gee... ::)

Thought Sam Newman asked some good questions though and had Wallace dodging and weaving. (especially on the Swans payments)

And BTW, I have nothing against TW- he tried but failed. We need to move on and as Tommy Hafey has said, it is now crucial that we select the right coach to take us forward.

Very disappointing interview
Saturday cannot come quickly enough for us too Terry

Agree with pretty much everything that has been said on this thread

The worst thing is I was sucked by this spin 4 and a half years ago

I think the strongest thing that came out of that interview was how much better the Footy Show would be if they got rid of Hutchy's exclusives and gave Sam Newman a one on one interview every week. Let him be a dhead for the rest of the show but give him 10 minutes each week to do an in-depth interview. It added something to the show.

As for the interview itself, eveyone's pretty much said it all. He dodged all of the Richmond questions, so there wasn't much to learn. I've been a Wallace fan and until recently would have been happy for him to give him a 2 year extention but last night's interview just confirms that his time is up. I was very unimpressed by the comment that he wanted to get tonight's game out of the way so he can get on with his life. Why have the final game if that's how he feels? I'd like to think in years to come he'll reflect on this week and offer us the same apology as he has to the doggies. He has not handled this well at all. I won't be holding my breath though.

Interestinginterview,no doubt that newman asked him to go & he was paid by Swans but tried to disguise it.It would seem to me that TW was the one who leaked info as he wanted to leave so he could persue his next job but still get his full contract this year.
