Finals Week 2: the Keilor cafe games.

Heard Voss say this morning on SEN that it was a ‘hit to the throat”?

Haven’t seen the incident again, but I’ve been hit:

On the throat
Hit on the head

So hard that I felt nausea and wanted to throw up.

Guess which one was it?
So we’re the docs trying to get him off or not?

Haaarrrgh. The cook is gunna be mega pissed off this morning. She was bleating n moaning last weekend that there wasn't much in the Hun after Carlscum's first finals win in ages against Sydaknee. Grabbed the paper out of the driveway ( yes we're old n still get a real paper delivered ) and there is exactly 0, nada, big fat donuts not a *smile* thing in the paper about the Carlscum v Smelbourne game at all. :rotfl1 :rotfl2 :banana Ooooh she's gunna be looking for someone to poke with a pointy stick, old fart might need to make sure he's got good clearance or a head start before he starts laughin this morn.

We get the paper delivered too, just not the HUN, useless rag that it is.

But, back when I was a kid and we didn't have all the gee wizz digital technology to put out a newspaper, the Sporting Globe would come out at maybe 7pm on a Saturday night and have reports on all the matches finished at around 4.45pm that day. Now, they can't even get the report of the previous night's game into the paper by the morning.

Anyone who tells you that computers make things faster is full of it. Newspapers have never been further behind current news than they are now.

That'd be fair, giving Gee Whizz a proper seven day break off an interstate game coming up against a team that's just had a fortnights break. Gotta give teams a fair chance during finals instead of handicapping the crap out of them.

But they would be playing the pies - everything is fair and equitable if it benefits the pies.

A mate of mine got a hit in the throat in a marking contest, it damaged his vocal cords, his voice was stuffed after that. He said it was the worst feeling he'd ever had. He vomited, had trouble breathing & was generally really crook.

I think the same thing happened to Gary Dempsey.

I always had immense respect for Dempsey, as a commentator he was a bit croaky but always insightful.

Well, just shelled out for a prelim final day-trip package with flights, ticket, bus transfers to and from the airport. Flying in and flying out on the same day. $1800. Bit stunned that I've forked out for it, but I can afford it. I'd missed out on a club ticket package twice today and was gutted, then the email for this particular one came through in the late afternoon. I ummed and ah-ed about it, and figured I'd be filthy on myself if I let this one go. So I bit the bullet.

The way I see it, the prospect of Carlton or even Collingwood winning the flag is a small price to pay for Geelong not being there at all.

I would have figured you as a Truth reader instead of the Hun, Maso

If there was a turning point in Carlton's season it was the management of Walsh, early in the season he was predominantly outside, often spending time resting on the flanks. No surprises the Blues lifted when he returned to his inside role, I'll credit Vossy with that adjustment, he's also lifted as a coach and tactician. Looking good are the Blues although there's still a mountain to climb, they'll need to tidy up the disposal if they want to make it to the big dance.
Walsh BOG in my eyes last night.

Bringing on the sub when Voss did, credit to him and the kid.

They seem to practice those moments in the game ( last 60 secs) if in front, credit to Voss.

Goodwin would want to have his time again with his choice of sub,but 6 months is a long time to redeem yourself again and again.

Most of us said it at the time and this morning listening to the radio, commentary on it was perplexing too.

Effectively played one man down.

Lost me Western.

Others can clarify.

When it first happened I thought it was ‘head’, accidental.
Smith from Melb went to him and helped him up to his feet.
Then the vision of Weitering staggering all over the place then he throws up.

I don’t know!

I’m prepared to be wrong and admit I was wrong.
