Finals Week 1: The acid reflux games.

1 - How do you lose a game when you are -32 in inside 50's
2 - How do you win a game with only 37 inside 50's.

Stats show that should have been a 10 goal win to the Dees but their forward line was useless along with their kicking for goal.

Geez its frustrating watching that, thinking what if we'd had Lynch all year, both of these teams were rubbish today.

If I'm Port or Brisbane, I'm getting excited.
Excellent article in The Roar about this.
Entries schmentries.
Big difference in 48m out and 25m.
Pies structure well, defend deep and have a fast open forward line.
Dees dont lead but bomb it long.

ON a positive note the leading team made the prelim with a forward line of Mcstay Mihocek Elliot Mccreery and Hill.

Our forward line is fixable, even without landing a big fish

Main knock on Danger as a commentator (aside from the fact he’s a Cat, a flopper and he knocked out Flossy) is he’s just dead boring. Not engaging on any level.
I thought these were his strong points tonight.

Melbourne going after Grundy instead of a forward has cost them a flag.

Another lesson from last night is that you can’t rely on young players to win finals - JVR and Daicos were out of their depth with little influence last night. We will need to be patient with our youth.

It also shows the potential of Sonsie and Ross who performed well in last year’s elimination final.

Why don’t 7 Plus stream AFL games ? Why is it quarantined to Suxtel and Kayo only ?

Fritsch had to compete and touch the footy.
Hairstyle ? Maybe he was protecting the fuzz but it was an ugly soft jump
Think Quaynors team mate assisted in putting slight body contact on “Hair” and thus couldn’t do much.

I have to see vision again.

Think Quaynor also mentioned that in his post match interview.

Josh Daicos is 24, hardly young in football terms. The extra physicality of finals is what found him out.

On JVR. I thought his effort and endeavor were good but he wasn’t getting the ball in dangerous positions. Then again, none of the Melbourne forwards were.

Brown got them 2021 but their issues have been masked but talked about all year.

Losing Brayshaw early cost them the flexibility to push Petracca more forward.

Brayshaw out
VanRoo suspended.

They may have to bite the bullet next week and play Petracca forward next week.

In hindsight,

Theyde have planted Max at FF and rucked all night with Grundy,

And won by 4 goals
So this. Massive mistake at the selection table. Compounded by picking a witches hat named McDonald.

Max's 20 CP and 100 i50 just equated to 50 intercept marks each to Qayner and Moore.

At worst, Grundy gets 2 i50's and Qayner and Moore get 1 mark each

I reckon fritch played with a busted foot, and Kosi pickett with no sense of direction as well

I reckon The AFL will introduce a 'dangerous smothering' rule this week,

So they can use bruzzy great bloke as a test case,

To argue if you dangerously smother, but the bloke gets knocked out and misses 2 finals is wearing a helmet,

Its only a 1 week sanction.

And then give Bruzzy GreAt Bloke a $1000 inverse fine and a retrospective AA captaincy

It was an extraordinary act of sycophantasia, even by AFL standards, that Abs interviewed BruzzyGreatBloke after a game in which hes knocked a bloke out for 2 weeks,

But then she upped the ante by articulating her jaw fully, exposing her bright white horse dentition, and declaring

'We love how you go about your business'

NEW AGE PIES

some of the crud that comes out of Fly McRaes mouth is starting to wear thin

"I'll take you into the changerooms for a bit, but we talk about every moment...

..I talked a lot about winners last year, that’s what winners do. They move things quickly and stay in the moment, stay present, live in this space..."

AND - Maynard on Brayshaw "But it's all love. I absolutely love that guy to bits.."

YEEESH ... it's Mindfulness rehashed

Melbournes defence looked slow when the ball was on the deck and couldn’t move quick enough when the pies sling shot from defence.

Thats my concern next year (Grimes, Vlas and Broad) and is more of a worry than our forward line. Defence wins finals.
