wouldn't they lose money by only playing 17 games ?

No different to playing in empty stadiums - excepy maybe the Stadium hire fees

Selfishly, my preference is to keep a 22 game season in the same order as original

I've got 6 interstate flights & accommodation booked as well as RFC Functions paid for @ GWS, Brisbane & GC games, hopefully the threat will be dealt with soon

i reckon we keep play in empty stadiums till we get the all clear for the fans to re enter.

The challenge for the league though is how do you protect the players when they travel interstate for away games - that will be the reason if they choose to postpone the season.

Wonder about all of this Virus thing in Australia.

So far as at today, only 199 people have contracted the virus and according to figures I saw today some 40% have recovered.

Also, only three persons have died from that virus, sad though that is.

More people die DAILY from other diseases than the total of 199 to date.

Just asking. Is this an over reaction?

Whole goal is to prevent the tsunami effect that Italy and other countries have got. If we all get sick simultaneously it will be a health care and economic disaster. It's why the USA are in the *smile*. They did not respond immediately as Aust and Canada did and so they will enter a log phase of infection. There's no immunity yet and no information about re-exposure, rate of mutation etc. It's a huge unknown.

What will happen is that during the season players and staff will contract the virus.
They and eventually the whole squad will be isolated.
The side cannot field a team and the fixture will become a farce.
There will not be any sensible , even competition and the eventual ladder will not be
reflective of the better sides . Of course an opposing side will not want to play a team that has had
exposure to the virus.

The only sensible option is to delay the season.
If the epidemic subsides sufficiently them play a shortened season but extend it through to later in the year to at least get
17 games as a minimum.
Availability of grounds later in the year can be resolved on an as needed basis.

If the season goes ahead , in a weird way I think it might work for us in a football sense .

dimma will come up with a new theme , what we are playing for , who we are playing for etc etc .
I think the togetherness of the club , in difficult times , we hold the advantage
