Essendon = Entitlement

Some punter on SEN suggested #lolNorf leak a story that they are now after Hird as their coach next year. It's bound to send the Druggies supporters and coteries into a meltdown.

Yes they have treated him with complete disdain and disrespect. I can't immediately recall a coach ever being treated so disgracefully.

"Hey Ben, you're a pretty *smile* coach and we're gonna go balls in to convince Clarko to coach us so we can give you the arse. But whilst we sort that out you will just need to continue in the role until Clarko says yes. In the unlikely event he says no (ha ha who can resist the might Bombers; we're the best), we'll need you to continue whilst we undertake an actual process and work out who will be the next best replacement for you. It'll be an embarrassing sh1tshow for you and the media will hound you every day and ask you awkward questions. But even though we are treating you like sh!t you still need to act in the best interests of the mighty Bombers. You're a trooper."

What a joke of a club.
Matty Knights?

Best thing for Rutten to do is just drop the bundle and go through the motions to let us win easily. If he knows he has no chance, I'd give it back to the senior management a-holes in spades.

Normally I would agree but we need a good tune up this week...hopefully they'll take the game up to us

All I need do is remember the arse Essendon supporters who used to rub my nose in it as a Richmond supporter when they were at their peak.

I watch on with much interest.
Same here jb, my supervisor was one such entitled arse, always treated Richmond with disdain and as a bad footballing joke!
I left just as the drug saga hit that club! Never got my paybacks to that arse! Both Sheedy and Hird are an ongoing pox for that club!

Ha ha yes! These arsewipes again. Although I don't think they were so publicly pursuing another coach whilst Knights was still in charge.
Yeah that's because they already had him line up and they let Hird do their dirty work. I think Knights was sacked a week or so after this.

Matty Knights?
yeah, i reckon Knights worse treated worse. he was only booted so Hird could get the job. he was going ok.

There would be speculation about Rutten's job, soon if not this week, regardless of Clarkson.
Sure;y he will get the boot now, even if Clarkson goes to North?

Carlton and Essendon were the last of the Melbourne clubs to enter the professional age.

The poorer clubs were forced to do it early doors because they have no hubris or entitlement poisoning the well.

Collingwood began their process a decade ago. Eddie, despite his foibles, was the architect.

Richmond has now had two presidents and several years to develop the organisational excellence we now enjoy. Brendan Gale is of course the critical component.

Geelong, for all our hatred, has been a *superbly* run club for possibly the longest time. They are just magnificent. Good presidents and CEOs.

Hawthorn have been exceptionally well run for well over a decade.

Which leaves Essendon and Carlton repeating the same mistakes again and again.

Pulling past players into key roles, always looking for the “big” coach, picked at constantly by over-powered coterie groups, deluding themselves they are still destination clubs and compromising their list recruitment strategy accordingly.

I would argue Carlton is on the verge of dragging themselves free of this primitive mud.

But Essendon’s one chance of escaping lay in Paul Brasher’s hands. And Xavier Campbell’s. Good operators both but the ferals have come for them. Barham is a chest-beater and now it looks like Sheedy is over-involved.

Just delicious. Of all the clubs once trapped in the 80s, Essendon might just be the only one left in the pit.

Essendon's roots in shady places extends far deeper than the other Vic clubs.

Think it might stretch to Italy even.

Knights was going so well he got them into the finals with 10 wins!

Hawthorn has been an exceptionally run club for over half a century.

Collingwood probably 20+ years since Fat Ed took charge.

Got to give Steven Wright credit alongside Gary March for us.

The Wright/March presidency period was our move towards stability, proper planning, not leaking everything to the press.

To me Essendon need to tell Sheedy to *smile* off and stay a million miles away from them.

I think they went like 7-8 weeks hanging Teague out to dry didn’t they ? Every week him and the players were being asked about his job.

Not to mention he was giving players there end of season reviews, including advising those delisted, in the immediate days before he was finally let go.

They knew full well then he was gone and put him (and the players) through that.

Weak.
