Elimination Final Game Day Thread v Lions

Worst part was we lost the game. 2nd worst was a total spud with a stupid mo kicked the winning goal.

Dimma was trying to pinch a flag with chaos and territory.

It didnt work,

But i had fun

We should transplant clydesdale hamstrings into dion
Prestia needs to go to Germany and have the calf blood injections and he can take grimes back there with him too.

My first and only live game this year. Very very frustrating. More frustrating live than on TV as you can see our potential with the structures and ball movement but our execution on many occasions was crap. Really need to work on this in the off-season. Effort was great, even our discipline was good, but way too many unforced errors. The game was definitely a case of Richmond killing Richmond, every quarter though some stupid decisions or execution we let Brisbane back in. With a bit of polish, some extra grunt in the midfield and more experience under the belts of the newbies we can go further in 23.

What a waste.

Only shitty upside is we probably couldn’t have got it done without Dion so we get slightly better draft position.

But this year was a waste.

P.S. Brisbane is a hick town full of simpletons.

I know a hell of a lot of Lions supporters Spook, not one has been in contact to give me any sh!t.

Think they know they got away with blue murder last night.

Same.
The guy who owns the gym I go to is an old Fitzroy supporter. Shook his hand & congratulated him this morning. Didn't give me any *smile*. He knows that Brisbane are done next week.

We lost it due to one of the worst games from a ruckman i have ever seen. Grigg would have been a better option last night. The Big O going down was actually an advantage to Brisbane. Nank got first hands for probably 90% of the time after the injury. All he had to do or be instructed to do was belt it forward at every occassion. Get our mids on their bikes early and we have a massive advantage. Instead he grabbed it at every opportunity and disposed of it like his hands were broken. When he did decide to tap it was ALWAYS to the advantage of Bears. If we had Max Gawn playing for the RFC last night we would have won by 60+. Club needs to address this and the first thing would be to relieve him of captaincy duties. Harsh but one of the sole reasons Brisbane were kept in it all game.

Also to add. When you are getting paid 700k a year you should be kicking goals from 5 metres out. No excuses.

A few criticisms of the kids games last night, and it was frustrating watching a number of mistakes being made.

However we only have to go back to the three losing EF's when the likes of Cotch, Titch, Bachar, etc. were pretty ordinary. Yet they went on to become legends of the clubs. I think we can cut the kids some slack.

I thought Sonsie was very good (quiet second half) and MRJ (also quieter in second half).

I should have said *affable* simpletons, Mops. And of course not you and your tremendous triumvirate of terrific Tiger tyros! Just a shame no one from Guinness was there to witness what was surely an obliteration of the 'Most High-5s shared by three men and three boys in a three-hour window' world record. But we'll always know, and that's what matters.

Yes mate we both watched the same game lol. So if the oppo can shark Nank's tap outs, why could'nt we?

We don't have the quality inside mids and with Meatball gone, they had a field day. Like most things, it ain't that straightforward - despite that it looked like Nank was looking for Neale and his mates .
Yeah, Nank wasn't getting enough air to direct his taps with any accuracy. Under those circumstances, the stronger, faster, at his peak Brownlow medallist kept beating our blokes to the pill. Nank started grabbing the ball out of the ruck because that was the only way we could get first possession. He just didn't use it well and Brisbane cottoned onto it and started sweating on him. Reality is once Dion went off we had little inside presence (and frankly, he was off even before he got injured).

That record shall never be topped. The tyros all commented what fun they had with your good self and the Antman!

Yes. Being moved forward, back all over the shop hasn’t helped.
Balta had been moved forward, then ruck an$ then down back later in the season. I thought he had started to settle back into his rightful position and showed signs of last year. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but he should’ve been played down back all year. He said last year that he’d benefited from playing in one position all year - so why mess with what was working.

Neale killed us all night. Not sure why Nank didn't just take him out of the game by punching the ball 25m forward towards our F50 and let our half forwards do their thing.

Last night just felt like we were building up to a finish like that, where things just didn't quite go right. Even towards the end of the 4th, Gibcus (who'd had a very poor game) won the ball on the wing, cut inside the tackler and delivered an inch perfect pass to Cumbo who was on his own 30m dead in front. Cumbo slips, the ball sails over his head and Brisbane clear.

Just little things just didn't seem to go our way last night, and you could just sense that we were leading up to lose a close one.

Sucks balls as we were generally the better team last night, we just didn't manage to kill them off. Like the inexperienced kick from MRJ to Lynch that could have put us 4 up, but he didn't kick out in front for the lead (and he would have burnt Andrews easily, but kicked over his head to where he was standing previously. Experience will probably change MRJ's decision making here but just little things at crucial times didn't go our way.

Ripping lads. The future is in good hands. Hands toughened and strengthened by high-5s.

Hopefully they focus him purely on that position in the off season, trained as a forward all last off season, hopefully they now realise he is a backman and he can train like that in the off season.

Just one of *those* years, posh. We'll bounce back. Many learnings. Great exposure for some real emerging talent.

On Nank punching it, good question. Maybe he couldn't with the lack of air, maybe he didn't think of it. It was worth a try, for sure.
